We are already talking about the Oscars so why not the Golden Globes?

It’s early but it’s always fun to have conversations and speculate. So what do we all think when we are still 10 months away from nominations 😉

Game Night and Rachel McAdams I hope stay in the conversation.

I mean, The Big Short was a “comedy” so who knows. They changed the rules so maybe Backseat will be forced to go Drama? It could be a legitimate comedy or legitimate drama for all we know at this point, but I guess is that it’s borderline and is pushed to Drama.

I’m not exactly sure why. Lucas Hedges is big right now so I can see him getting in if his film is well received. They seem to like Joaquin Phoenix and if he delivers a decent performance he will be in. Christian Bale will make the cut if Backseat goes Drama, if it’s Comedy then he will probably win. The HFPA like a foreign performance and Javier Bardem is big enough for that to happen. Robert Redford will surely be included if his performance and film do well.

Gosling will replace Bale in my predictions if Backseat goes Comedy.

lol they nominated Gosling twice in 2011. He’s not getting passed over while his movie is nominated everywhere else.

Also if any supporting actor from Beale Street is getting in, it’s gonna be Stephan James.

And yass to Crazy Rich Asians, hope it turns out great and becomes a hit. Here for Golden Globe nominees Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh.

Has George and Tammy even began filming yet? I don’t think it comes out this year. I also feel like if you’re gonna nominate Bardem, you can’t leave out Cruz who appears to be the lead and focus of the movie.

And while Sandy’s role in Bird Box is great, it’s more of a genre movie and best Actress drama is already so stacked. Can’t see her getting in.

As long as First Man is decent (which I imagine it will be with Chazelle at its helm), I don’t think Gosling will miss

edited my predictions above with the addition of George and Tammy, which I hope follows the path of Coal Miners Daughter and Walk the Line as two very good country music stories.

I also switched Backseat to Comedy, allowing Gosling into Drama Actor, Cruz into Drama Actress. I moved Adams to Supporting.

Placements are so speculated right now – I love it haha

There’s a possibility that The Favourite is in Comedy/Musical

Early interview with Weisz and Lanthimos said it’s a “funnier and sex-driven version of All About Eve”

Emily Blunt (Mary Poppins Returns) and Lily James (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!) will get nommed for best Musical/Comedy Actress.

for now, Emily Blunt is one of the few that is the biggest lock for a nomination. And I have a feeling that Lucas Hedges is being overestimated here. I just don’t feel like he will deliver in Boy Erased (I didn’t think he was great in MBTS)
