Jerrod Carmichael will be hosting the Golden Globes.
December 9, 2022 at 8:49 am #1205185058Starting to think Top Gun is at least 2nd in Drama after its NBR win, still going with The Fabelmans as the winner for now but the oscar frontrunner almost always losing the Globe made me think of potential upsets and TGM seems the most realistic to me.
December 9, 2022 at 8:54 am #1205185071I also think Top Gun is second in Drama, but Cruise returned his Globes (and nobody else followed, lol) and made a big deal about the Globes being this and that…so maybe Top Gun is fifth? If it’s even nominated…
Don’t tell me they’ll get honest all of a sudden and not snub him out of spite…
December 9, 2022 at 8:59 am #1205185129the HFPA aren’t gonna take Cruise’s return of his globes as a snob fest, plus the addition w 100+ voters will def benefit Maverick even if there are a minority that took it srs within the old membership

I was going to predict her for comedy actress, but not anymore. Palmer probably had more of a shot in comedy than supporting.

A voter said that there was no special screening of either film for members of the organization. And that was like two days before the deadline for voters to send in their ballots.
But chances are they did some last-minute screening of Avatar: The Way of Water. Or provided a link for voters outside the US. I don’t know if you trust Clayton Davis, but he says he’s pretty sure that all HFPA members/voters have seen Avatar. This project has had a positive reception and a huge buzz even within the industry, so it might get votes just for being James Cameron. IWDWS obviously does not have this privilege and the impression is that they are hiding the film. If I were to bet, I don’t think they saw IWDWS. But there is no confirmation in either case.December 10, 2022 at 6:01 am #1205186221Btw, the person who said he hadn’t seen Avatar tweeted his thoughts on the movie, and he’s Australian, so I think they made the movie available to both HFPA members and guest voters.
