a link? I’m just imagining someone watching this tech behemoth of a film on a little laptop screen lol

These guest voters are all over the world, so I don’t know if they would have private screenings in so many different locations. I find it unlikely.
But yeah, the movie was made to be seen in 3D. Something like this deserves to be seen in IMAX. There would be no way to have a corresponding experience with a small screen, but at least they will have an idea of the material.

That’s because they had a splashy Australia premiere weeks ago already. That doesn’t mean the movie was made available to everyone outside of the U.S. Also Clayton is NOT to be trusted. His Globes scoop in 2020/21 was wrong from head to toe, from them supposedly hating Promising Young Woman to Ma Rainey supposedly being nearly considered in comedy/musical.

Well but he said he hadn’t seen the movie 3 days ago. And by now he’s seen the movie. And there would be no reason for him to give his first opinion of it now if he saw it weeks ago, because the embargo on social media reactions had already been lifted before he made the first tweet saying that the film had not been made available to him.

And about Clayton Davis, I made a disclaimer in my post saying that it’s up to each one to decide whether or not to trust what he says.

it depends in where he said it and how. If he said it in variety as info( instead of said it in twitter or said it as rumors) then is trade info

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js Keke Palmer is Supporting and NOPE is a DRAMA.

Also worth noting that their HFPA contact confirmed Babylon, RRR, and Hustle as comedy/musical players, not drama, which is think was already suspected by most. Source

I had Manville in from the very beginning and even had 100/1 odds on her but took her out for Keke Palmer only for her to move down to supporting! I think supporting actress is the trickiest race to predict here. Only bullish about Condon and Curtis and with the latter it is only really because of her history here (she spoke at their ceremony last year in spite of all the controversies going on with them!). Really wanted to drop one of Buckley and Foy for Monae who I’m becoming increasingly convinced is not only a nominations contender but can even win but I wasn’t sure which to do. Buckley has never been nominated by the HFPA and is now a 3 time BAFTA nominee and an Academy Award nominee for The Lost Daughter so in a sense she has an iou here but Foy has the awards history here and was even nominated for First Man even as she wasn’t at the Oscars. I think Monae will ultimately get in but I just don’t know who to keep out and I think Chau is going to be that surprise nominee everyone expects to miss but ends up getting in due to individual support (like Negga last year). Are they going to buy into Foy’s arguably stronger narrative of never having been nominated for an Oscar or are they going to try and make it up to Buckley who they’ve never nominated before. It will be interesting in particular to see what happens with Foy and Whishaw also being on the ballot on the TV side for A Very British Scandal and This is Going to Hurt. I don’t think the former is going to get nominated for limited/movie actress (although I’d probably be predicting her had she landed an Emmy nod seeing as she otherwise has the right role, show and network behind her) but I have the latter in my limited/movie actor predictions. Could the HFPA see them over there and try to award them to make room for other contenders? Could they split votes? I don’t expect it to have much impact but it was something that I was definitely thinking about when revising my film predictions for the final time.

Hoss, Hsu and Mulligan were also compelling predictions I considered in supporting actress. The former feels like someone who could benefit from the change in membership demographics, Hsu I can see benefitting from EEAO love (and the HFPA wanting to cover their bases) and Mulligan feels like someone who could end up showing up at all the precursors but then missing at the Oscars because their film is too weak as a contender. That being said I also had a quick look back at her history with the body and (unlike with say BAFTA or CCA) the only times she has been nominated were for both her Oscar nominations so it felt a bit hard for me to justify predicting her without predicting She Said to get a surprise drama picture nomination (which I don’t think will happen but it wouldn’t surprise me either if it did).

They always have a populist director pick and Cameron makes the most sense for that slot this year although I wouldn’t be surprised to see Luhrmann get it or even Kosinski (although the latter not even making it in with critics groups who are otherwise showering Top Gun : Maverick with love could be telling) Predicting Elvis to only get Butler in feels like a big. risk seeing how it is essentially Globes bait but yolo. Very curious to see how Aftersun and The Woman King perform here. I think Davis is looking good and I have Mescal in but I can see them doing anything from completely over-performing to getting nearly shut-out. Ditto with Babylon. I have Robbie in 2nd and Calva in 3rd but with how unpredictable its run has been so far it wouldn’t surprise me if it just got into musical/comedy picture and that was it.

FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

When they do a BAFTA 2020 and everyone is completely wrong…

lol, when the FIPRESCI influence rebrands the Golden Globes as a Highbrow International awards show

How awesome would it be to see Picture lineups that include films like Bardo, RRR, Triangle of Sadness, All Quiet on the Western Front, Close, EO, and Decision to Leave, and acting nominees like Vicky Krieps, Felix Kammerer, Song Kang-ho, Park Hae-il, Tang Wei, and Zar Amir Ebrahimi instead of things that would have been nominated before by the old HFPA like Julia Roberts in Ticket to Paradise

Does anybody know what the last film was that was nominated for Golden Globes Best Film (either Drama or Comedy/Musical) and recieved 0 other nominations?

If I include Triangle of Sadness in Best Film Comedy, then surely I have to include it for Screenplay, Director, or Dolly de Leon… right?

Comedy was Sing Street in 2016. Drama was The Great Debaters in 2007

I just noticed that Harris Dickinson and Charlbi Dean didn’t even get in at the European Film Awards where Triangle of Sadness swept and Zlatko Buric won for Best Male Performance. I don’t know what to make of their chances. I think I’ll be taking them out for Fiennes and ATJ.

    For Your Consideration:
The Banshees of Inisherin in ALL categories, including:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Director
    - Best Actor (Colin Farrell)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Brendan Gleeson)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Barry Keoghan)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Kerry Condon)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Sheila Flitton)
    - Best Original Screenplay

I’m still convinced either Jessie Buckley or Claire Foy is missing but I’m not sure which one.
