What clips do you think that this year’s Oscar-nominated performances should be represented with at the ceremony?February 15, 2018 at 10:57 am #1202494479
These are my ideal clips, I know some/most of them won’t make it in as they can be spoiler-y. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Timothée Chalamet — Crying in front of the fire, or crying in the car, or nearly crying over the phone. Cry, Timmy! Cry!
Woody Harrelson — The look on his face when he’s alone in the hospital after seeing his wife
Sally Hawkins — “The way he looks at me, he doesn’t know what I lack, or how I am incomplete.”
Laurie Metcalf — Driving around after she’s dropped Christine off at the airport
Frances McDormand — The deer scene, or “Robbie!”
Sam Rockwell — Crying with his coworker
Margot Robbie — The mirror scene
Saoirse Ronan — “What if this is the best version?” Also surprised they haven’t exhausted the sink scene.
Octavia Spencer — Confronting her husband
The clips we’ve already gotten for Oldman (reason with a tiger), Kaluuya (hypnotizing scene), Janney (diner confrontation), and Jenkins (“Maybe we’re both just relics”) have sufficed for me.February 15, 2018 at 11:11 am #1202494487
Lol there’s gonna be a lot of crying scenes this year.February 15, 2018 at 12:20 pm #1202494529
I can’t remember, do the Oscars always give everyone a clip or are they like the emmys where they do it for the first category but then usually cut them for the others?February 15, 2018 at 12:51 pm #1202494550

I can’t remember, but the Oscars have never squandered an opportunity to make the show run overtime, so I’m guessing the latter.February 19, 2018 at 10:47 am #1202496968
I have only seen thirteen nominated performances. But I think their Oscar clips should be.
Willem Dafoe: Bobby telling Halley to leave and counting till 3
Daniel Day-Lewis: “Take of the f**king dress”
Woody Harrelson: The brief moment when he is alone at the doctor’s
Daniel Kaluuya: “Rose, give me those keys”
Lesley Manville: “Don’t pick a fight with me”
Laurie Metcalf: The airport scene
Frances McDormand: Priest ripjob
Christopher Plummer: Getty’s response when Fletcher tells him that his grandson’s kidnapping was a hoax
Sam Rockwell: The hospital scene
Meryl Streep: The phone call scene
For Oldman, Ronan, and Washington, just stick to their SAG clips.February 19, 2018 at 11:16 am #1202496986
Streep: This is not my father’s company. This is not my husband’s company. This is MY company. It’s especially passing in the current climate.
McDormand: I have a feeling this will be “It’s alright, baby”. Unless the blood makes them to reconsider.
Daniel Day-Lewis: the maybe you have no taste scene. Or the scene, in which he speaks about his mother and the dream he had and the tears on his face.
Kaluuya: the keys scene.
Washington: his first time in court, attacking the judge.
Oldman: the subway scene. the crybaby part.
Manville: Don’t pick up a fight with me.

Chalamet: I don’t think it will be the fire scene, they almost never use silent clips. I think it’d be the piano scene, which I find incredibly cringey but well, people love that.
Day-Lewis: Where Reynolds bitches about stuff to Cyril.
Oldman: The tiger scene.
Kaluuya: The hypnosis scene or the key scene.
Hawkins: Where she begs Giles to help her getting the amphibian man out. Why? Because that scene has subtitles.
McDormand: There are too many. It’s a very showy role. Maybe the deer scene. Or the billboards on fire scene.
Robbie: The mirror scene is excellent but she didn’t have any lines in it so I’m guessing the court scene.
Ronan: The dress is perfect scene or the “what if this is my best self” scene.
Streep: Where she tears down about potentially losing her paper in her granddaughter’s room.
Dafoe: That scene they used at SAG, the no harm no fowl scene, or the pedophile scene.
Jenkins: The scene where he talks to the amphibian man in the bathroom.
Harrelson: Hard one as I kinda don’t remember much about it. Maybe the human rights law scene with Mildred?
Rockwell: Another hard one as it’s a very juicy role. Perhaps one of his asshole scenes.
Janney: The scene every televised show uses (I fucking gave you a gift etc.)
Metcalf: Airport scene was her best but she didn’t have any line there so I’m guessing her argument with Lady Bird in the car scene.
Manville: Don’t pick a fight with me you certainly won’t come out alive.
Spencer: Her last scene with her husband.
Blige: Her awful delivery of “you come all the way back”
I haven’t seen Plummer and Washington and I don’t think I will bother.
