    one of the things that I wish people would remember that with close races it could very well be that the film that wins won by only one vote or a few votes… I think there are a dozen categories that are close (which will doom my predictions percentage!) – fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy night! (;

    LOVED Rita Moreno’s red carpet anecdote about being convinced Judy Garland would defeat her on Oscar night.

    Also, Jane and Eva Marie look AMAZING!

    Good to hear Fantastic Woman is the best of the Foreign film screenings, so it will win on merit. I still will keep Insult as a Big Bet. Shape of Water as Cinematography. Get Out for Picture.

    Good luck everyone!

    Just switched to Dunkirk for Editing instead of Baby Driver. I feel I’m going to regret this.

    No, you won’t.

    I had Chalamet for the longest time as the pick for Best Actor.  I still don’t think he’ll get it, but I can’t help but shake the feeling that I won’t be surprised should it come to pass.

    Dafoe, though, I wholeheartedly expect to win.  My No Guts No Glory prediction, I guess.

    ^manalemel, I hope you are right about both categories! Chalamet and Dafoe! That would be great! (:

    For those of you predicting Get Out for BP: do you honestly think it will be able to overcome the less than five nominations statistic, where no films that have less than at least 5 (The Departed is the only BP winner with 5 nominations in at least the last 30 years) and usually 6 nominations ever win BP, and that’s been true for many decades? Anything is possible but I doubt it will happen… (Get Out has 4 nominations)

    I think that the big question of the evening is: will the Oscars break with recent trends and give Best Picture to a movie that doesn’t win for screenplay?

    I don’t think they will, and I think Get Out is in best position to win both.

    Lady Bird or Three Billboards could both do it as well, but I think that Get Out is taking Original Screenplay and that’s what decides the BP race for me.

    And if there IS a Picture/Screenplay split, it would most likely be The Shape of Water and Get Out… but movies that sweep the technical awards have tended not to win BP in recent years.

    Well, look at that.
