July 1, 2018 at 10:18 am #1202577582The first official entry is Crystal Swan from Belarus. This is the country’s first submission since 1996. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-belarus-selects-crystal-swan-foreign-language-category-1124342
ReplyCopy URLAugust 3, 2018 at 10:52 am #1202602015Switzerland has selected Eldorado as their entry. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oscars-switzerland-selects-eldorado-foreign-language-category-1132036
ReplyCopy URLAugust 4, 2018 at 4:25 am #1202602503Dear Academy members, please throw a nomination at Radu Jude’s film. It would be about time to recognize Romanian cinema.

An as a “sorry” for ignoring the great 4 Months, 3 weeks and 2 Days” in 2007

And a South Korean whilst they are at it, who will hopefully submit Burning, my favourite film of the year so far (but I have to admit I don’t see Burning gaining any traction with the Academy).
ReplyCopy URLAugust 8, 2018 at 9:28 am #1202605399Colombia should submit ‘BIRDS OF PASSAGE’ (“Pájaros de verano”) directed by Oscar-nominated Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego.
It has great chances to get the nomination!
*** TRAILER
ReplyCopy URLAugust 8, 2018 at 9:57 am #1202605430Slovakia has chosen The Intepreter as their entry.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 8, 2018 at 4:14 pm #1202605718I really wonder what Turkey will submit. They have “The Wild Pear Tree”, which came up empty-handed from Cannes and then there is “Butterflies” which won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. I haven’t seen the latter yet but the former is too long and somewhat boring for the Academy.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 16, 2018 at 7:09 am #1202610441Estonia has chosen Take It or Leave It as an entry.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 16, 2018 at 7:24 am #1202610453I hope Indonesia will send Satan’s Slave (Pengabdi Setan). It is the biggest horror movie this year and actually being screened in overseas cinema across Asia
