    @foolio

Diane Warren is not a writer on I’ll Never Love Again. The writers are
Gaga, Natalie Hemby, Hillary Lindsey and Aaron Raitiere.

And Lin Manuel Mirada didn’t write the songs for Mary Poppins Returns. Marc Shaiman and Scott Sittman did.

It would be such a moment for Gaga, Hillary Lindsey and Natalie Hemby to win. Three women winning this category when almost always there is a man winning, or a woman win shared with men.

But Song is almost lock for Shallow, so..

    Thank you for the corrections!

No doubt Gaga will have to sing at the Oscars. I just wonder if Cooper is up for the Shallow duet because that would be a highlight for sure. Otherwise Gaga will be relegated to singing I’ll never love again or always remember us this way.

In the last 45 years, only six foreign language films have been nominated for Best Picture. How many have won? Zero. In fact, a foreign language film has NEVER won Best Picture. I don’t understand why according to so many people, including the “experts”, Roma is a favourite to win.

Tell me how many black gay films have won before Moonlight? Or how many fish-fucking films won before Shape of Water? And Roma is not another black and white film. It’s the best movie of the year by far according to critics (96 on metacritic) from acclaimed and beloved director who arleady had oscar winning film. Plus Netflix is preparing huge oscar campaign for it. If you had been any good at predicting awards you would have known that Roma is top contender for best picture.

I’m still not really sold on Roma either. I think it could be a critic fave that doesn’t really go anywhere a la Florida Project. I know Cuaron is a way bigger name but let’s not pretend the delivery method (language, b/w, Netflix) is working in its favor. Those factors are a lot more relevant than the last few winners’ unique plots.

You can’t compare the originality of the subject to the language. There have been Best Picture films like Birdman, Silence of the lambs etc. wich are not the classic Oscar movies either.

You can consider it a contender, but not a frontrunner in my opinion. They even made a different category for foreign language films. I can see Cuaron winning Director though.

Well, Roma can probably make history by getting BP. Besides Roma, I don’t know which film deserves BP victory rn.

If Moonlight and ShapeofWater can win in the recent past 2 years, I won’t be surprised if a foreign language film bring home the Oscars BP.

That’s so hard to predict as the movie hasn’t been seen by anyone yet!

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)

    “only”?

    That’s a damn long time.

Everything for this year’s Oscars looks so uncertain rn. It’s an really interesting year to predict, though.

I have a feeling Vice will not do well. So far, we have one trailer that was not great, a few promo images, no reactions besides one or two test screening reports, and no festival premire announcement. It is very possible it premieres at AFI but idk.
