How many acting nominations will Vice get?

Currently, I have three (Bale, Rockwell, and Adams) in my prediction, with none of them winning. But out of those three, the only one I’m over 90% certain is getting in is Bale. Rockwell will get in too if the movie’s better than the trailer suggests, but I don’t see Adams getting in unless Annapurna really pushes the “overdue” narrative for her.

“only”? That’s a damn long time. Everything for this year’s Oscars looks so uncertain rn. It’s an really interesting year to predict, though.

That’s what makes it interesting. No film yet is certain. Black Panther maybe yes, maybe no. Maybe First Man or ASIB maybe none of them. Even supporting categories is no certain yet.

We’ll see next month. SAG and Golden Globes will announce their selections. That’s one month. Time is running so fast.

How many acting nominations will Vice get?

remember last year when a lot of people held their breath for The Post, it had everything going for it: huge talented cast directed by Spielberg about a timely political topic. But, only ended up with 2 noms.

Vice could end up like The Post last year, underwhelm and underperform at the oscars. Bale and Adams seem most likely bets for a nom at this point.

I was afraid of that comparison…

If it’s Kimmel again I’ll screech

I doubt Kimmel will coming back as host again (I like him very much, he’s fantastic as host) but he was hired twice by Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd who were producing the shows in 2 consecutive years. Now there are new producers I believe they are now searching for a new breed. Maybe we can who is hosting on or before Honorary Oscars. Let’s just wait.

If Kimmel hosts three years in a row, that won’t be a record.

The record for the most consecutive ceremonies hosted by the same person is five, with Bob Hope hosting the ceremony in 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, and 1962.

There were also two occasions where the ceremony was hosted by the same person four times in a row. Bob Hope hosted in 1940, 1941, 1942, and 1943, and Billy Crystal hosted in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993.

Gonna keep putting this out in the universe until it happens.

Tracee Ellis-Ross is such a an obvious (and great) choice of host how are ABC so blind for not having her yet.

I don’t care about the record. I just didn’t like him overmuch as host.

I’m behind this solely for the possibility of having Diana Ross pop up. My little gay heart would explode.

Personally, I hope it’s Ricky Gervais, Whoopi Goldberg, or Hugh Jackman. Gervais would really deflate the overblown egos in the room, Whoopi is always fun, and Hugh is the only host who makes musical numbers acceptable.

Really hoping for Ellen. I think she made a really fun telecast.

I don’t mean to underestimate Black Panther, I understand the narrative behind it, the success and what it represents. But, in my opinion it the film itself it not groundbreaking nor showcasing really impressive film-making, I’m expecting a best picture nom but I do believe other films like If Beale Street Could Talk and Widows deserve more of the appreciation and momentum Black Panther is riding.

I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this, but the film isn’t a genre-changing film like The Dark Knight etc. The only reason Black Panther is hyped up is because of its diverse cast and BO success. If the cast was entirely white I don’t think we would be talking about the Black Panther an a seriously widespread contender. I hope ampas reward better films like Beale Street, Widows or Green Book.
