Does widows still have a shot at showing up at BAFTA by relying on Steve McQueen’s british background.  Or has SAG put the final nail in the coffin for widows.

Unfortunately, the latter. The movie also didn’t do well in the UK. Very sad for this movie.

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)

Crazy Rich Asians over Black Panther? I don’t see it. 💀

That’s less of a legit prediction, more of my own personal preferences creeping in. I liked CRA a lot more than I did BP, so I want to see it sneak in somewhere.

Widows is completely dunzo, unfortunately. SAG was the most prime territory for it.

it feels like this year we’ll have a BP list of only 6-7 films with so many major contenders losing steam

They better not nominate Bohemian Rhapsody for BP over one of those current top10 contenders.

Oh yeah I noticed this yesterday but I heard some critics said before that MPR would get some mixed reviews despite of the early hype, so I’m not really surprised.

Having seen MPR (and having loved it), the choice to follow the 1964 film’s structure so closely will definitely be seen by some as derivative, but I think on the whole, people will understand the need for those parallels.
