I support the rule because I want to see more movies in non English language with adequate subtitles. I enjoyed The Farewell more cos of the Chinese language in mix

    Joker Deserves Everything.

    Joaquin Phoenix is the Man

Cynthia Erivo should win best actress

The 10 semifinalists have been announced! They are:

    Atlantics—Senegal
    Beanpole—Russia
    Corpus Christi—Poland
    Honeyland—North Macedonia
    Les Miserables—France
    Pain And Glory—Spain
    The Painted Bird—Czech Republic
    Parasite—South Korea
    Those Who Remained—Hungary
    Truth And Justice—Estonia

Ultimately, I got 7 out of my 10 predictions right. The only ones I got wrong were Beanpole, Those Who Remained, and Truth And Justice; instead, I wrongly predicted Monos (Colombia), The Traitor (Italy), and Weathering With You (Japan).

Be sure to leave your predictions for the final 5 nominees.

I’m feeling confident with Atlantics, Les Miserables, Pain and Glory and Parasite.

I’ve watched Atlantics and Parasite and think they deserve the noms.

Pain and Glory is buzzy as hell.

Les Miserables sounds like it is a timely story, and it sounds good.

I just love movies. And awards.

Glad to see Atlantics made the shortlist; it’s miles above the rest of the pack, though we all know what will ultimately take the prize.

I would actually say that there is a pretty easy top 5 here, speaking in terms of quality (which means only two or three of them will be nominated):

    Atlantics
    Beanpole
    Honeyland
    Pain and Glory
    Parasite
