Such a great trailer! I hope it wins Tom Hanks his third Oscar. The poor man has been snubbed too many times since he was last nominated for Cast Away.July 22, 2019 at 8:29 am #1202989690
will they both be submitted in best actor? based on the trailer neither of them seems like they could be a supporting roleJuly 22, 2019 at 8:31 am #1202989692
Tom Hanks will not nominated until he plays against type.He will not get not a nomination for this movie regardless of how good he isJuly 22, 2019 at 8:40 am #1202989711This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.July 22, 2019 at 8:49 am #1202989720
Hanks needs to be nominated again. And I wouldn’t mind him winning again either.July 22, 2019 at 8:58 am #1202989733
LOOKS SOOOOO GOOD. Hanks + TV ICON ROLE that Everyone loved = Oscar nom at the least?July 22, 2019 at 9:09 am #1202989747
Magic and nostalgic trailer. Hanks on the top.July 22, 2019 at 9:26 am #1202989797
Tom Hanks doesn’t seem that good, i don’t think he will be nominated. I predicted Best Picture and Best ScreenplayJuly 22, 2019 at 9:50 am #1202989859
Could Rhys join the likes of Janney, King and Malek as recent Emmy winners who find themselves adding an Oscar to their awards cabinet?

Why do I have this feeling now that they’ll push Rhys to Supporting? If so, can’t wait to see Oscar nominee Matthew Rhys, even if it is fraud. I still think Hanks could campaign there because they gotta show a lot more footage of their selling point, but the bigger name for the bigger award also makes sense. That being said, like others above, Hanks needs to play against his usual safe zone if he wants to get in.

Also got banned because...reasons? So, I guess ciao.July 22, 2019 at 10:20 am #1202990005
Here we go with Tom being so likeable and so good again. I mean, this trailer warmed my heart and Tom looks exquisite. But I’m not counting on this for his overdue 6th nom.
This will be a hit though. Tom Hanks is arguably the biggest box office draw of the last 50 years.

Cute trailer. Hanks looks fantastic. But I’ve already seen “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” so the need to see this so soon afterwards immediately drops.July 22, 2019 at 12:05 pm #1202990161
Rhys is the lead and Hanks is supporting, based on the story. Rhys’ character is the journalist/skeptic interviewing Rogers for his next piece. I think both could get noms, similar to Can You Ever Forgive Me? (same director I believe).
I agree that Hanks would have a better chance at a win playing against type, but maybe he can get the supporting statue.
This should be much different than the documentary.
