Most people thought this remake written and directed by Bradley Cooper would be a terrible disaster when Lady Gaga was announced as the female lead.
The thing is that early projections have been very optimistic and some people say Lady Gaga has many emotional scenes, especially the one that marks the ending.
Recently, Academy Award winner (twice) Sean Penn has said this about the film:
““I just saw, what should be a disaster. I saw a remake, the third remake, of A Star Is Born. And if I could do that today, what he did with that story, I’d be staying in the game. But I don’t have the perspective, and maybe not the skill sets.”
He added, “This is one of the most beautiful, fantastic, it’s the best, and most importantly, commercial film I have seen in so many years.”
So, what if it really turns out to be a good movie? Is this movie a serious Oscar contender? What do you think about it?
This year I stan: Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, Joanna Kulig, Sam Elliott and Toni Collette (at the moment).March 28, 2018 at 8:11 am #1202520339
Well, it can be good. I don’t know if it could be nominated at the Oscars but it could definitely be a surprise. Even if the movie isn’t that good, Lady Gaga is going to be nominated at the Globes, anyway. We’ll have to wait, I guess.March 28, 2018 at 8:14 am #1202520341
Oh darling, everything Lady Flopga touches is bad. Poor Bradley. He doesn’t know what he was doing when hiring this Madonna wannabe.
Sorry not sorry 😉March 28, 2018 at 8:47 am #1202520357
No, and you being a Gaga stan isn’t going to make it come true.March 28, 2018 at 12:15 pm #1202520515
Yes, all signs are pointing towards this actually being a great movie and it’s going to be amazing to see all of Lady Gaga’s haters (including the two members above) having to deal with it.
I can’t wait.March 28, 2018 at 1:20 pm #1202520547

Extreme praise from Bradley Cooper’s friends (Sean Penn is a buddy of his, and they spend time together) doesn’t mean anything. Penn is doing his job as a friend, which is hyping his buddy’s passion project.
It could be good, but you need to wait for more objective sources to read anything into it.March 28, 2018 at 3:11 pm #1202520583
lmao no. movie will flop as hard as britney and beyonce movies.March 28, 2018 at 7:14 pm #1202520674
If Bohemian Rhapsody is any good, I bet it will steamroll over A Star Is Born throughout awards season.April 6, 2018 at 11:12 am #1202525281

That directorial epic of a movie from this A+ list mostly movie actor just gets worse. At this point, it is a jumbled mess with terrible performances and several entire scenes need to be shot again. Very quietly the studio is bringing in other people to slowly push the actor out.

The singing was great. The acting sucked. Apparently the acting really sucked and the editing is going to take forever to try and get something usable out of her acting. I did mention it sucked right? Not the only reason the movie is delayed, but a big part of it. I think our A- lister is going back to focusing on music. I also think the A+ list co-star of hers should be a little more kind to the foreign born model because she is about to start spilling about one of his most notorious ex-relationships.
