Forgot to mention that both Taron Egerton and Eddie Murphy were snubbed this year. This year has been a lot of snubs.

I was so happy when Joaquin Phoenix made that wonderful speech at BAFTA’s

Well, I guess I’ll give 10 performances by an actor (leading and supporting) and 10 performances by an actress (leading and supporting) from the 21st century, ’cause I’m afraid I would have an (almost) endless list if I expanded…

    10 Performances by an Actor
    Gary Oldman, The Contender (2000)
Gene Hackman, The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
Rodrigo De la Serna, The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)
    Jack Nicholson, The Departed (2006)
Paul Dano, There Will Be Blood (2007)
    Ryan Gosling, Blue Valentine (2010)
    Michael Fassbender, Shame (2011)
    Jake Gyllenhaal, Nightcrawler (2014)
Idris Elba, Beasts of No Nation (2015)
    Ethan Hawke, First Reformed (2017)

    10 + 1 Performances by an Actress
Björk, Dancer in the Dark (2000)
Scarlett Johansson, Lost In Translation (2003)
Emily Blunt, The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
    Keira Knightley, Atonement (2007)
    Sally Hawkins, Happy-Go-Lucky (2008)
    Kirsten Dunst, Melancholia (2011)
    Oprah Winfrey, The Butler (2013)
Jessica Chastain, A Most Violent Year (2014)
    Claire Foy, First Man (2018)
    Lupita Nyong’o, Us (2019)
    Zhao Shuzen, The Farewell (2019)

While I wouldn’t go as far to say that Logan Lerman would’ve made my personal Best Actor lineup for The Perks of Being a Wallflower that year, I did write him in as a bonus for who I thought deserved a nomination when Kevin Jacobsen asked people on Twitter to rank the lead acting nominees from 2012.
