I hope so too, but I wonder if Glenn Close fans in general will be satisfied with a Supporting Actress Oscar win vs. a Lead Actress Oscar win? She deserves a Lead Actress Oscar, but at this point, the roles are scarce. Many people seem to think she’ll be put into the Supporting Actress category for Hillbilly Elegy. So many veterans like Martin Landau, James Coburn, Alan Arkin, Sean Connery, Robin Williams, Frank Sinatra, Judi Dench, Teresa Wright, Vanessa Redgrave, Peggy Ashcroft, and others only won a Supporting acting Oscar.

An Oscar is an Oscar is an Oscar. I’d be perfectly content if Close won an honorary Oscar, as I’m sure she would be as well for an acknowledgment of her entire body of work.

Michael B Jordan. I’ve just realized he wasn’t mentioned or not as often as some other names. But yeah, he’s the real deal – talented af, hot af, headlines a quality franchise (Creed), completely stole Black Panther from Boseman (who was unbelievably dull), good pick of non-franchise roles, already a veteran (was a child actor so that’s a long career for such a young actor). he’s happening.

No reason for her to not triple crown with a competitive supporting win first.

All of this, I’ve heard conversations with friends who never realised he was Wallace in The Wire.

When will people stop thinking it’s so easy to win 3rd Oscar for actors who have 2. Nobody is winning a 3rd Oscar in the next decades. You need to have the level of respect Daniel Day-Lewis and Meryl Streep have, and nobody has that as of right now. Cate Blanchett is the only one who comes to mind as the next candidate, but it will certainly take much time for her to reach that point. Look at Streep, it took her ages to win 3rd: she was rejected many times before The Iron Lady in various years where she had won precursors like e.g. SAG for Doubt.

I agree with your sentiment to an extent. Where I disagree is how you seem to be ignoring that sometimes the performance is enough to justify another win, regardless of how recent the last win was. If Blanchett does another Blue Jasmine-caliber performance, she’s immediately winning whether it’s next year or in 20 years.

The fact that Michael B Jordan got snubbed for Black Panther but Sam Rockwell made it in is criminal.

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay

Agreed. MBJ should have been nominated but I understand how his snub happened. Disney was camapigning BP as an ensemble and not for individual actor(s) so he didn’t have a chance without it. It’s really on Disney for lack of campaign focus on him than on AMPAS for going with well-camapaigned candidates as they always do.

MBJ was criminally snubbed for Fruitvale Station.

Three of the Glenn’s seven Oscar nominations are in Supporting Actress, so I’m sure that type of recognition would be enough for her. I would love for her to take a Lead win, though. And I believe she still can.

    Fruitvale Station. Yes.

    Black Panther. No.

If anyone should of been nominated it would be Andy Serkis.

Hoping it’s next year for Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog!

I just need her to win. She has the prowess talent wise to be a multiple winner but if voter bodies are continually comfortable to hold her steady as an Oscar night loser it’s pointless envisioning a better tomorrow.

I’m opposite. I’d rather my favorites never win than win for some lame forgettable or downright awful try-hard gemme oscah role that’s pure make-up for snubs for worthy roles. No one lives down that crap.
