I would totally love for Geena Davis to win another Oscar sometime in the future, And the same goes for Whoopi Goldberg.

I hope Tom Hanks wins his third acting oscar. In my opinion he already desereved to be three time Oscar winner because of his wonderful work in Cast Aways. Even though he wasn’t best that year (i prefered Nolte, or not nominated Jim Carrey) i think that he would have been better choice that Roberto Benigni.

Tom Hanks, when nominated against Nick Nolte and Roberto Benigni, was for the Saving Private Ryan performance. His co-nominees during Cast Away were Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Geoffrey Rush, and eventual winner Russell Crowe.

Ye, i know. I should have separete these two sentances of mine. My point was that he was more deserving than Crowe, and that even though that he wasnt the best in year when Benigni won, he would still have been more worthy than him. Havent sad it the way i wanted in my previous post.

I agree with Trent that Marion Cotillard is one of the best actresses around these days and that she definitely has another Oscar in her future. I just saw Rust & Bone in Paris and she gives the strongest, most heroic performance by an actress I’ve seen all year. Regrettably, she’s also been used by two major directors in a perfunctory way in The Dark Knight Rises and Midnight in Paris, but she lit up the screen in her smaller English-speaking roles in Nine and Public Enemies. At her best, she has the knack that Julie Christie had in her Oscar-winning performance in Darling of seeming more alive than anyone else around her; interesting coincidence that she squared off against frontrunner Christie in Away from Her and wrested the Oscar for playing Piaf. Cotillard is a daring risk-taker, and those are the people who win and keep winning!

I find it very weird that Cotillard is considered a contender for “Rust & Bone”. Audiard is not exactly the kind of filmmaker I’d think of as Oscar baity, and unless he changed his style considerably, I don’t think the premise can it make that any different.

From their contemporaries, I think Winslet, Blanchett, and Kidman have the best chance to repeat.

    Renaton,

The Audiard film is very visually dynamic, and once it opens in America (next month, I believe),
and you have a chance to see it, you’ll be clear why Cotillard is a potential Oscar contender for Best Actress.
If you check out the Gold Derby Critic consensus predictions for Best Actress, you’ll note Cotillard is among the top five,
and deservingly so! Nominations for cinematorgrpahy and editing are also possible. Believe!

I still think Julie Christie has another Oscar coming! Hopefully, she has something meaty to do in the new Redford film, The Company You Keep.
