Marion Cottillard has delivered constantly brilliant performances ever since her Oscar win and should but probably won’t be recognized for her performance this year in “Rust and Bone”.
Let alone having a second Oscar by now she should at least have been nominated since 2007.
Tilda Swinton is similar to me – the biggest snub this year and other years as well.Marion and Tilda deserve second Oscars

hAHA she tried this year for “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and failed.

But still for me that performance was magnanimously better than “The Blind Side”.
So was her performance in “Crash” which she could have been nominated for if 2005 Sup. Actress wasn’t so strong that year.
I don’t think she’s a bad actress and I think it could happen again but I’d like it to happen to her for a good performance not another performance for the Academy to reward.August 25, 2012 at 10:32 am #66983This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.July 15, 2020 at 5:23 pm #1203587127Jessica Lange having the spectacular 3rd act that she did in the 2010s (iconic characters, 3 Emmys, a Tony win, Triple Crown, legacy cemented as an all time great).
As soon as she comes back to film in a good role I could see her steamrolling the season.

I don’t know. Her category was considered weak. And her performance was a juggernaut with respect to people underestimating it till they saw it.

She’s too unpopular politically.

Nah, she was just average.

And certainly it wasn’t a weak field.
There were career best performances from Johansson, Ronan, and Theron.
Which makes it even more mind-boggling how the hell she swept during the season despite her mediocre, gimmicky imitation of a famous movie actress and the fact that there better options/performances.July 16, 2020 at 4:07 pm #1203588441There were career best performances from Johansson, Ronan, and Theron.
In what world was Bombshell a career best performance for Theron?! And I also don’t think Little Women was Ronan’s best. I still prefer her performance in Brooklyn.

Those were definitely not Ronan and Theron’s best perfomances.

Not really the thread for it but I think Theron was great in Bombshell, just wasn’t career best. And LW comes third after Brooklyn and Lady Bird for Ronan.
I loved Johansson in MS but I’m not sure if I liked it more than Lost in Translation, which is pretty untouchable imo.
