Dunkirk marks Christopher Nolan’s 10th film as a director, so Rotten Tomatoes is celebrating by ranking all 9 of his previous films based on critic scores. The results are:

    1. The Dark Knight—94%
    2. Insomnia—92%
    3. Memento—92%
    4. The Dark Knight Rises—87%
    5. Inception—86%
    6. Batman Begins—84%
    7. Following—78%
    8. The Prestige—76%
    9. Interstellar—71%

Pretty much what it should be, I’d put Batman Begins above TDKR and Inception. That movie is underrated.

Now I respect Nolan much more than I used to. He hasn’t made a masterpiece or a great film yet (Memento is probably the one that comes closest) but his average quality is very good. My favourite film from his filmography is probably The Prestige, because it reminded me of the concept of cinema itself – the magician’s tricks, the enchantment and surprise of the public, ecc. ecc.
