    Hi, guys.

I just wanna ask for everyone’s opinion. What do you think looks better for an actor’s resumé? To miss all the precursors eg. Globes, SAG, BAFTA, Critics’ Choice but is nominated for an Oscar at the end (Bradley Cooper, American Sniper/Toni Collette, The Sixth Sense) or to hit all the precursors but miss an Oscar nomination (Amy Adams, Arrival/Jake Gyllenhaal, Nightcrawler)?

Not sure if there is already a thread about this, if there is, my apologies.

    I also think the Oscars.

At talk shows, the host often introduces actors like “x time Academy Award nominee” even though they have won precursors.

an example off the top of my head is Amy Adams in the Graham Norton episode with Henry Cavil and Ben Affleck. She was introduced as 5 time Academy Award nominee even though she had just won the Golden Globe.

Definitely the Oscars. That what Jenniston was trying with Cake. Of course she wouldn’t win but she wanted to upgrade from Emmy Winner to Academy Award nominee Jennifer Aniston.

An Oscar nomination is one step away from the supreme accolade for actors of a win so I think that. Also they use it to introduce you on shows, in articles, when you die, it’s basically a title for life. The average person has almost no clue about most other awards but everyone knows the Oscars.

I guess we could add Marina de Tavira to that list.

Yeah, nobody gets introduced as “Critics Choice Nominee Xxxxx Xxxxx”.

And for Marina de Tavira, you can bet she would’ve loved to be a critics award winner or a SAG nominee, but the real prize, the real celebration, the ultimate moment for her, is being an Academy Award Nominee. That’s what matters. That’s gonna be seen all around the world. That’s gonna be news. She’ll get articles, magazine spreads and maybe even new opportunties because of this. Not because she won supporting actress at LAFC.
