Anya didn’t say a word in the trailer. Someone know how big her supporting role actually is? If I remember correctly, there was an information where a person who watched the movie said Anya is the standout. Funnily enough some people thought it is about Taylor Swift at first.

July 6, 2022 at 8:06 pm #1205005408I’m hoping with every bone in my body that this movie, its box office income, and any awards prospects it is blatantly and desperately seeking flops to the deepest circle of hell.

July 6, 2022 at 10:29 pm #1205005427Considering how DisneyFox’s unimpressive marketing and awards strategy departments helped sink The Last Duel’s chances, and hobbled West Side Story’s (it flopped, ofc, and certainly didn’t get as many noms as it could/should have considering its qualities – #justiceforFaist), I think Amsterdam may be hitting a wall soon…

July 7, 2022 at 4:12 am #1205005529This looks passable at best. Bale, as often, seems to overact (don’t like him at O’Russel’s). I predict the actresses to be the real stands-out ! Lovely Margot is magnetic and so expressive in just a few frames! 🥰
O’Russel is good to give a ambiance style and, sometimes, direct his comedians like J-Law in SLP but that’s it !

Personally disapponted a bit by Anya working with DOR but she never claims to be “progressive”

I can only see the backlash the female part of the cast (especially Margot) is getting as people projecting their anger and pointing the finger at the women rather than the man that actually did something wrong. Let’s not even talk about that the male part of the ensemble doesn’t get one single bad comment, because apparently, it’s only wrong if you are a woman. It’s just very cynical to me.
It’s time we all open our eyes and not hold celebrities on a pedestal and accept that they are human beings who make mistakes and that we don’t have to agree/defend those behaviors and hold them accountable for it while still liking their work (talking about Margot and Anya for example here).
No one cares about this film. Probably not even Disney does. The people who will go to the theatres probably have no idea who even David O. Russell is and what he has done and the ones who know are boycotting the film so what are they even fighting about.
It’s all very tiring and that’s the first and last thing I would comment on this lol
July 7, 2022 at 6:08 am #1205005601The comedy is set in the 1930s and follows the antics of our two soldiers, one nurse, as well as a large supporting cast of well-known figures from popular culture. Christian Bale (who earned an Oscar for his performance in Russell’s The Fighter), Robert De Niro, and Jennifer Lawrence, who frequently worked with Russell, all declined to appear this time.
