So apparently he replaced Michael B. Jordan, huh?
That’s what I suspected too.

Should’ve replaced him with Daniel Kaluuya imo…

MBJ is not in Babylon??? I agree though, I would’ve loved to see him work with a director who is pretty notorious for getting most of his actors nominated. MBJ is only good with certain directors mainly Coogler, but I feel like he would’ve meshed well with D.O. Russell.

He’s rumored to be in it, whether it ends up being true, I don’t know. On Letterboxd he’s listed to be playing a “Sidney Palmer”, though.

ReplyCopy URLOctober 10, 2020 at 10:58 am #1203770060I think it would have finished for awards season regardless (unless it started shooting late Summer). DOR has a quick turnaround when it comes to film shoots (I believe American Hustle was shot in the space of two months).

October 10, 2020 at 12:10 pm #1203770104Surprised that so many A-Listers still want to do a DOR picture, considering his on-set reputation.

Well, he gets them Oscar nominations/wins and that’s something they can’t refuse

Exactly. He’s one auteur I hope Kathy Bates gets to work with because I’m sure it’ll be Oscar worthy.

Great for her, she deserves all the work after sweeping both TV and Film award seasons.

Coming for Oscar #2 and Grammy #4
ReplyCopy URLDecember 1, 2020 at 3:33 pm #1203887949There are people who seem to genuinely like DOR and don’t have issues working with him. Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Christian Bale have all done multiple films with him and don’t show signs of stopping. Even Lily Tomlin said she is on good terms with him after the I Heart Huckabees incident. So, I’m not willing to say it’s entirely about advancing their careers.
