Weren’t initial reactions to Life of Pi a tad lukewarm too though? Regardless, no way will Alwyn or Martin be players this season.

That’s what I was remembering too but I went and checked and it has a 79 on metacritic which seems a bit of a stretch for Billy just based on these initial reactions. We shall see, though, maybe it will get a better reception post-festival. I also seem to remember that, although Pi wasn’t a critical darling it was almost universally praised for its visuals which many reviewers are singling out as a weak point (or at least not an asset) of Billy.

Well this is probably the first time in my six year history of following the Oscars that a movie that I remember that a movie was this in contention got this bad/mixed of reviews.

I say wait until it actually gets released where maybe it will get a second win but yeah it’s not looking for Lee and company.

May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows.

It’s my fault. I have bad luck starting topics about movies.

I don’t believe in luck. Crap happens. No one can predict 100% how critically acclaimed a movie can be.

Joy had it worse — just last year!
