Coco is a better film than Dunkirk, Lady Bird and several of the other 2017 nominees.

Into the Spiderverse is better than Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Black Panther, and Vice. And it is not even close. You would have to have lame taste to think any of those films were remotely has good as Into the Spiderverse.

Kubo and the Two Strings and My Life as a Zucchini are both better than Hidden Figures, Hell or High Water, and Manchester by the Sea.

Song of the Sea is a better film than ever film nominated for Best Picture in 2014.

Your Name definitely, but that wasn’t even nominated for Animated because the Animation branch is basically just the Disney payola branch.

Inside Out would’ve improved the lineup that year.

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Wolfwalkers

    Best Animated Feature: Wolfwalkers

well that’s true, Your Name was also screwed over by a mediocre Oscar campaign & US release from Funimation.

Considering a typical field of 8-9 nominees and the respective competition each year, I think that one film deserved a best picture nomination this decade and it was toy story 3. The only other film I can see an argument for is inside out, considering 2015 had some pretty forgettable nominees, but overall I think the academy did well.

Inside out and Your name, without a doubt. The former should’ve won Original Screenplay.
