I think you guys may be looking at the wrong factors. If Michael’s success will guarantee a hit film, what happened with Whitney? Also, Elvis is successful, but the film is $600 million behind BR. BR smashed because it introduced many people to Queen and reminded their fans of their greatness. Michael’s death is somewhat fresh. Plus, there are controversies surrounded Michael’s cases. There are many controversies surrounding Michael that may not be addressed in the film. Lastly, when Rami Malek was announced, people were very excited. Jafaar is a talented kid but he’s got some work to do. He can sing and dance but can he act? There’s so much more than “Michael being the biggest artist ever.”
BR was like a family movie. They erased all darker and controversial parts. So, Michael Jackson biopic could be even bigger Worldwide if they erase all darker and controversial parts

BR was successful for its concert scenes. Michael Jackson biopic needs that: The Iconic First Moonwalk, The Iconic MJ Superbowl and The Iconic 1995 MTV Concert

February 7, 2023 at 1:56 pm #1205296415This could look great. His movies are only OK/mediocre but most of them look great in terms of Visuals: Training Day, The Replacement Killers, Equalizer 1 & 2 & 3. Antoine Fuqua directed several Music Videos

His films don’t lose money either. He’s not Mr Blockbuster but he’s not a big risk.

They could have made room for Chinonye Chukwu in the director lineup.
