We are extremely close to the Oscar nominations, which is why I’m interested to see if anyone here has some wild predictions, like LaKeith Stanfield or Marina De Tavira.
I’ll start. Every year there is at least one person in the acting races who doesn’t really show up anywhere before the Oscars. And I feel that will most likely happen in Supporting Actor. So I think either Jesse Plemons or Mike Faist could be that person this year.

None of the others being floated really make sense to me. Bardem would be lazier than the Oscars have been in recent years. Dinklage should have hit SAG. Same with DiCaprio although I’d say he has a small chance as he’s such a huge name and Don’t Look Up is guaranteed a BP slot.

I really feel like The Tragedy of Macbeth is going to explode on nominations day a bit like The Father and Judas and the Black Messiah did last year (although I don’t have Kathryn Hunter in my predictions). I also feel like there are less hurdles behind a beloved (and recent) 3 time Academy Award winner playing Lady Macbeth in a film peaking at the right time than with some of the other choices in this field.
