Are you having trouble with the Warner Brothers streaming app they sent out to view A Star is Born and Crazy Rich Asians?

I’ve tried on two computers and it is almost impossible to view the films. You watch about two minutes then it buffers. A friend of mine is having the same trouble.

I was wondering if this is happening to lots of voters. This could affect the awards if so since they haven’t sent out DVDs of the films. I’ve seen them already but I was trying to watch A Star is Born again.

A lot of first time viewers may not see these films if the buffering problem is happening to lots of people.

I only saw CRA on it a few weeks ago and did have buffering issues. Though I was still able to watch the entire film. I still don’t understand why didnt send dvd screeners. Own goal right there. At rate campaign is going, I am predicting a SAG shutout.

That’s unfortunate. Someone should contact Warner Bros Awards Office about it. ASIB can be shutout in SAG if this continues.

Hi Robert.  I work at Warner Bros and my team is in charge of the app which was launched this year.   We would love to help you sort out any issues you might be facing and I would encourage you to use the 24/7 support (phone, email, chat) that has been set up for this.  You can call 818-334-2033 any time of the day and get a support agent that is on my team here in Burbank at the Studio.  You can also visit https://support.wbfyc.com/home to chat or view support articles.

You did mention you were having “buffering” issues which is odd because we have received very few reports of this.  I just logged in to our streaming quality analysis tool which has data for all streams from the app and buffering is not a widespread issue.  We are actually seeing really high performance numbers in this playback category.  I think there is something else going on so if you are having issues please give us a ring.  We would love to help in any way we can.  Typically when users have had buffering issues it was because of very slow internet speeds or intermittent outages of their internet.  Give us a call.

    -Christian

The other screening system SAG sent out for all the other films doesn’t seem to work that well either. I’ve been having trouble with buffering watching Green Book and Mary Queen of Scots too. (and a friend had the same problem. This has happened in the past years too. I never studied it closely enough to see if it affected what won and didn’t.)

I’m beginning to think it is a good idea to just predict stuff that sent an actual tangible DVD you can stick in the machine!!!

(although stuff like A Star is Born that had big box office and people have already seen are probably not hurt as much as less seen films. But still. I don’t know what the statistics are of how many SAG members actually go out to theaters or rely on watching the stuff at home.)

That would be these films and TV shows

Thanks for clearing up Amy Adams versus Margot Robbie.

The post from the official from the screening site or Warner Bros. is mysteriously gone now, but cool to see that important people are following the discussion here, as Tom always says.

There was a quote from Warner Brothers? What did it say?

Yay, I was able to restore it from the back-end. Looks like it was belatedly caught by the spam filter. See above!

Wow that guy was really helpful. Yes it is cool (and as Tom says) people are reading Gold Derby.

Now I’m not sure if people should put any value in this thread. It may just be my internet or computer. (although apparently it has happened to others too.)

Thanks for the help though Christian at Warner Brothers!
