Go read about the book’s reception and you’ll see why this film probably will cause controversy and won’t get anywhere near an Oscar. It was a bad idea to release it in 2020.February 29, 2020 at 4:17 am #1203364680

Ron Howard said on an interview for Variety, that he decided not to focus too much on the political side but rather on the family and how the Appalachian culture influenced their lifes. He was also asked if the movie could be screened at White House and he said no. So I don’t think the movie will be THAT controversial.February 29, 2020 at 6:20 am #1203364763
Close is doing the baitiest de-glam since Alfred Noobs so if she wins that win’s gonna be mocked forever. It’s a literal please-gimme-oscah. Good for her cause she deserved it for Dangerous Liasons and Fatal Attraction but, yeah, this is the most desperate kind of role, maybe a half-step below Noobs and Danish Girl (Redcaropet role) on Desperation Scale.February 29, 2020 at 6:39 am #1203364772
I’ve never read the book, but I plan on reading it hopefully later this year. I also may be reading Killers Of The Flower Moon as well, since that will be Martin Scorsese’s next film.February 29, 2020 at 11:59 am #1203365051
I’m not doing the Glenn thing this year. They will not award her. They couldn’t care less to have her onstage.February 29, 2020 at 12:16 pm #1203365083
I’ve read the book, and depending on what take the script has, Glenn should have some pretty good material to sink her teeth into…..March 2, 2020 at 11:16 pm #1203368468This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.March 3, 2020 at 2:39 am #1203368547
Did “Four Good Days” get a release date? There are only a few reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, mixed for the film but positive for the two actresses.
Don’t know if it is a big enough film to get awards attention but it would be cool if Close bounced back with double nominations.
I think Four Good Days was too much of a mixed bag to push for a double campaign. I think keeping it simple with Close by going supporting for Hillbilly will be enough.August 23, 2020 at 12:49 pm #1203662830
what kind of role will Amy Adams have? a lot of people are predicting her in lead actress so I imagine her role in the book is quite big?August 23, 2020 at 1:08 pm #1203662874

I started it but haven’t finished yet because I’ve been busy, maybe this week I’ll have time.
Anyway from what I’ve read, Glenn’s role a lot more prominent than Amy’s and has a larger influence on the author of the memoir (the main character of the movie I guess). But, as I have said on the predictions thread both roles are extremely baity. Glenn’s playing a crazy grandmother and Amy an alcoholic mother.
People are saying Adams will go lead because of early screenings but in the book at least she feels more supporting than Close’s character. (However, I have to mention that from the actors they cast as JD and his sister, it feels like this is going to take place during the time period where Amy’s character does the most.)August 23, 2020 at 4:54 pm #1203663256
Netflix won’t intrude on Close’s supporting campaign / coronation by having Adams also in supporting.August 23, 2020 at 5:09 pm #1203663287

Definitely, and like I said, the mother is a big part of the time period they seem to have chosen so I can see how they could campaign Adams in lead. Not now
