    Girl…
    .La La Land
    .Lady Bird
    .Manchester By The Sea
    .Moonlight
    .Mudbound
    .Spotlight
    .Straight Outta Compton
    .The Big Short
    .The Big Sick
    .The Grand Hotel Budapest
    .The Imitation Game
    .The Theory Of Everything
    .Three Billboards
    .Trumbo

Just some example from the previous years. It´s delusional to think adult people will choose only the first letters of the alphabet.

Of course this won’t affect EVERY film. That goes without saying. And of course voters won’t vote just based on an alphabetical order alone.

All I am saying is that is it possible that certain films, and certain actors, are at an advantage because of their names being positioned higher on a ballot? Making it easier for voters to check them off first?

We saw how this impacted the Emmy nominations recently, to the point that the Academy actually changed the order of the ballots.

But then that wouldnt explain Margot Robbie, Rami Malek, John David Washington, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz…

And look at nominees last year there was Saoirse Ronan, Sally hawkins, Frances mcdormand, Margot Robbie (again), Denzel Washington and ensemble like “Three Billboards”….

You are reaching here. Not everything is a conspiracy.

However, SAG website also lists Best Actress in this order:

    Close
    Lady Gaga
    Blunt
    Colman
    McCarthy

No clue what happened there. It’s not even in alphabetical order by their films.

    The Favourite

    can you even read?

Who is saying this is a conspiracy?

I am saying it’s a trend that is possibly benefiting actors and films higher on a ballot because of their names.

Of course this doesn’t mean only actors with their names higher will be nominated. And that’s not even what I said and for you to infer that is so bizarre.

But if the ballot is in a particular order, then it doesn’t matter if the nominating committee is idiosyncratic and changes every year because the ballot would remain the same.

And this is a trend in relation to the ballot, not the members.

You don’t know anything about the SAG ballot though, or how the varying nominating committees use those said ballots. It makes speculation on it specious at best.

Like of course frontrunners – especially in films that weren’t screened late – are going to get nominated regardless. Of course this wouldn’t have any impact on Emma Stone or Rachel Weisz or Rami Malik or Frances Mcdormand or Denzel Washington. That’s so ridiculous to infer.

What I am saying is that this might explain some of those shocking snubs and those shocking nominations, especially when late screeners already made things tricky – like Bale and Adams getting in but Vice and Rockewell getting snubbed, like Streep getting snubbed for the Post, like King getting snubbed.

Which is why I framed this as a QUESTION and not a statement, and which is precisely why it should be discussed and clarified by someone who had access to the ballot.

Thats not a “trend” then if a bunch of other actors/movies dont fit into that bill. Its just a coincidence.

    Coincidental?…yes. Conspiracy?… no?

There are to many examples for it to just be coincidental IMO though. And it’s definitely not a conspiracy. But it doesn’t have to be a conspiracy for it to be somewhat of a trend though.

I just need clarity on how the ballot is structured. If it indeed is in a alphabetical order, it’s only natural to expect that to play an impact.
