We all know that the academy has a lot of catching up when it comes to representation for many ethnicities, none more so than Asians. With history being made this year with Stevn Yeun and Yuh-jung Youn becoming the first Koreans to not only be nominated but to win with Yuh-jung Youns win for Minari. So I was thinking which past asian performers do you think not only deserved nominations but which ones deserved to have won.

Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi, Cho Yun-Fat & Cang Chen:
They all deserved nominations flr Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and I’d give a win to Ziyi, and Chen

    Cho Yeo-Jeong, Song Kang-Ho, Park So-Dam, Choi Woo-shik:
All deserved nominations for Parasite and I would most certainly give the win to Cho Yeo-Jeong

    Kim Tae-Ri & Kim Min-Hee:
Both deserved nominations for The Handmaiden and I would. I’d give a win to Kim Min-Hee

    Maggie Cheung & Tony Leung:
Both deserved nominations for In the Mood for Love and both deserved to win

    Steven Yeun:
Burning should have been his first nomination and he definitely deserved to win

    Kim Hye-Ja:
She was so deserving of a nomination and especially a win for Mother

    Song Kang-Ho:
He deserved a nomination for Snowpiercer

    Michelle Yeoh:
Deserved a nomination for Crazy, Rich Asians

    Kim Yeong-Min & Yeong Su-Oh:
Both deserved nominations for Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring, and both deserved wins.

Spill. His work in Burning is so incredibly subtle and nuanced easily outsold that weak supporting actor lineup of 2018.

Zhao Shuzhen’s masterwork in The Farewell is one the decade’s worst and biggest acting robbery at the Oscar. Should win hands down.

Who the fuck watch that ‘god didn’t do the fucking’ monologue and says that is a better acting than Zhao’s final goodbye scene in The Farewell?

    Excuse me.

The literal embodiment of “the guy she tells you not to worry about” and he portrayed it masterfully.

    Sandra Oh – Sideways

It’s her being nominated as part of a SAG ensemble of only four people, and being the only one of the quartet not to receive an individual acting nomination, for me.
