84% on Rotten Tomatoes… they are in big minorities.

The Guardian review is hilarious. They said it looks like a screensaver! Hahaha someone’s bitter

Excited to see this this weekend and catch all the little visual details and flourishes.

I will say, as an aside, for all the talk of the film having an environmental message, the carbon footprint of the production for this movie is likely massive. A couple reviews noted this, which got me reading up on emissions and tentpole and big movie productions and it wasn’t the prettiest (big budget films can apparently produce 2,840 tonnes of CO2). I’m sure Cameron is passionate about this and hopefully the big tech thing he focuses on will be revolutionizing greener filmmaking.

Of course China loves it. In both movies(Avatar 1 and 2) the Villains are The USA Marines. LMAO

OMG, “Avatar~ Way of Water” is dumb as a box of rocks. Saw it at a screening tonight and it’s insanely predictable and rips off every movie you’ve ever seen. The dialogue is laughable and it’s an hour too long… That said, I think it’s actually better than the first one (which was horrible). The production design and visual effects are good of course, but geeez this movie is bad!

You though the first one was horrible but you went to the early screening? 🤨🤨🤨 Suspicious. You sure you’re just not another Avatar hater…

Anyway, audience response is very positive

Yesterday I had an early screening on Imax. I thought the movie was OK but nowhere near as great as the first one.

The technical aspects are again really good, even though not as mind blowing as in the original.

The lenght and the story are the worst aspects of it. I thought the movie had like 40 minutes of boring and unnecesary content, and the story overall was very predictable and meh.

6 out of 10 for me.

Didn’t find it as terrible as the first one, and definitely an improvement in terms of VFX. I still didn’t think the characters moved believably but the use of water served well enough to hide it. The less is said about plot and characters, the better. 4/10 for me.

    For Your Consideration:
The Banshees of Inisherin in ALL categories, including:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Director
    - Best Actor (Colin Farrell)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Brendan Gleeson)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Barry Keoghan)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Kerry Condon)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Sheila Flitton)
    - Best Original Screenplay

Don’t think this forum is the target demographic for this film. Really curious to see how my mainstream friends react. That will say how much legs this movie will do at the box office… word of mouth from casual movie goers.

It’s an easy 9/10 for me. Absolutely mind-blowing cinematography and visual effects. It was better than the first on many levels. Even the score (I had no expectations after the death of James Horner) was incredible! And the story was verrrrry engaging. People will love this movie for sure. James Cameron knows how to make movie for general audience.

Not an “Avatar” hater. Yes, I didn’t like the first film, but I went to the screening because I’m an industry award voter. I like to be informed and have an opinion based on fact and my impression of a film… So, yes, I disliked it and I shared that info here. That’s about it though. Not gonna go on some campaign against it. lol …. The film will do just fine without my support… And my audience was generally supportive of it as entertainment for sure… But there were many people who felt the same as me~ That it doesn’t deserve awards consideration other than tech categories…

    I’d give the film a C- grade.

How were the new cast additions?

The kids were really the stand out for me! They were very good! The human kid (Spider) was… okay. Not my favorite. But Sigourney Weaver was, strangely, my favorite among the kids! And Kate Winslet was great as usual but you don’t really can tell it’s her. But it’s clearly her voice so it was nice. But they did a really good job with the cast. The performances were all excellent.

I just saw Avatar 2. It was a 6/10 movie to me. Similar to Star Wars(1999). It’s a movie for little kids like Star Wars(1999). Like the old men of Lethal Weapon always said: I’m too old for this shit. I’m too old for a new Star Wars(1999). Still, it’s not a total disaster: Avatar 2 is 6/10 and a movie for little kids

For people wondering, the music score is available on streaming platform. It’s absolutely magical!
