I still have a long way to go watching the acting winners, but I would like to know if you think a truly BAD performance have ever won the Academy Award?

She honestly was acting as if she was in a different movie lol (and I say this as someone who thought her win for Judy was deserving and that she should have won for Chicago).

Well she might’ve been bad, but she’s the only thing that brought some life to that slog.

November 22, 2020 at 3:29 pm #1203855324I don’t think some of you are understanding what I mean with this thread. I’m talking about BAD performances, not average, not okay, I’m talking BAD!

November 22, 2020 at 3:30 pm #1203855328That means Joaquin Phoenix gave a razzie performence also
I didn’t know Phoenix was a Hollywood It girl in 2019 with all the campaigning machinery of by then disgraced movie mogul Harvey W. You’re bringing up Phoenix because…? False analogy overload.
At least you tried.

The fact you’re just writing ”BAD” means that any performance the poster deems lesser or with little value can be mentioned. ”BAD” has no objective way to be corroborated. Expect anything people will want to post based on personal reception. That’s what I did. That one remains for me a bad performance. End of story. If stans (not you) cannot deal with that, how is that my problem? Shouldn’t we, as movie fans, just post what we really think of a performance once we’ve watched it?

Melissa Leo, The FighterNovember 22, 2020 at 3:45 pm #1203855354Don’t get me wrong, I’m saying that just because some performances people absolutely adored were mentioned, but anyone has all the right not like them. I just reafirmed the meaning of the thread in case someone had misunderstood it. I say that because there are some performances we don’t enjoy much, but we also don’t think it is truly bad acting.
