What exactly do you mean by “Where is she?”
She received a second Oscar nomination in 2015 for “Deux jours, une nuit”, becoming one of the few people to be nominated more than once for performances in a foreign language. She will also be the protagonist of the next Leo Carax film with Adam Driver, probably going to debut in Cannes next year.

That was 5 years ago. I haven’t heard much of her since her Oscar nomination. That is what I meant.

Since MacBeth, she hasn’t been in a film that could get the Academy’s attention though. She’s been in fewer films and mostly French films.

Not that it’s a “bad performance” but Tim Roth channeling Christoph Waltz in The Hateful Eight seemed completely weird to me. I didn’t even pay attention to his character because of that.

    Otherwise :
    Dr Dre in Training Day

I like Roth in that movie, but I always found it weird how similar his performance is to Waltz in Django. It feels like Tarantino wanted Waltz to play the role, but probably realized it would’ve been to on the nose for him to do the part so he gave it to Roth.

I personally think a better actress maybe could have gotten a surprise Oscar nom with Cornish’s role in Three Billboards. Had you gotten someone with a lot more gravitas and ability, it would have really driven home the impact of that role. She has the great scene opposite McDormand in the store, and the letter scene.

I specifically remember hearing someone said if Vera Farmiga played the role, she might’ve been nominated.

As someone who mentioned Cornish, I don’t think she’s really that bad in it. She gets the point across, but I feel like another actress definitely could’ve done way more. And like I said, she just looks and sounds so out of place. Most people feel a little weirded out when a couple has a big age gap, and having Harrelson’s character, who is arguably the most likable man in the movie, being with someone who’s like two decades younger than him just felt weird to me.

Ooooooh,Vera would have killed it. If they wanted someone young, go for Chloe Sevigny. Toni Colette would have also done wonders with it.

Billy Ray Cyrus in MULHOLLAND DRIVE

Granted, this is a case where the where the performer wasn’t really an actor…and Lynch has always had a history of randomly casting singers to varying result (honestly some of his films often contain a rather odd mix great and bizarre performances).

Thankfully this performance was very brief.

I will have to agree with you. Hammer was quite stiff to me in Call Me By Your Name.

Chloe Sevigny is actually around the same age as Vera Farmiga and Toni Colette.

This was a hard list to make, because in most good movies I can’t usually find a bad performance. But here are a few I did NOT like despite the movie being good overall:

    Jason Statham—Spy
    Tony Hale—Love, Simon
    Noah Galvan—Booksmart
    Cardi B.—Hustlers

The main problem I have with all these performances is that the actors overact and chew the scenery way too much, thus making their characters annoying and obnoxious.
