Same 💀🤡
January 19, 2023 at 5:20 am #1205252861I feel like the shock of Mulligan’s nomination has made me ignore how nice it is to see her get some compensation for the PYW snub
I simultaneously appreciate it yet also feel kind of disappointed because I think it’s clear at this point she would have been nominated here two years ago if this revision of the jury system was in place then.
Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!
January 19, 2023 at 5:28 am #1205252877I picked Mulligan and am not surprised by her nomination. She was really excellent in a non-showy performance in She Said. It’s not easy to create a very normal and regular character who’s actually nothing like you.
Here for the comedies

January 19, 2023 at 5:33 am #1205252890I thought it was brilliant how they allowed pauses between each name. No rushing at all.
I was just listening to the audio in the background in the bathroom and noticed this too, so much better when they take their time instead of rushing through!

I also see it as kind of an apology for her PYW snub

I lowkey felt that she was Careying the film. She brought it the energy it needed.
January 19, 2023 at 6:00 am #1205252950Me seeing Baz Luhrmann getting ignored in original screenplay and director:
Not gonna lie, I was afraid of him being a top 2 in Best Director, thank God that it didn’t happen.
January 19, 2023 at 6:03 am #1205252957The Baz miss is interesting. He’s generally a BAFTA darling.
The Sunne in Splendour.

I wouldn’t look too much into that, his film for 10 noms. Elvis was never a screenplay movie and the directing miss just means wasn’t top 2.
January 19, 2023 at 6:20 am #1205253006Banshees domination, The Quiet Girl in screenplay, Mescal and McCormack lead noms.

I think Elvis is one of his worst efforts. Still think his first film is his best.
The Sunne in Splendour.
