Late to BAFTA nominations, but the slayage of the Close snub, one of the most average and heavy-handed movies I’ve seen this year.

Michelle (Yeoh, Williams) Oscar campaign manager.

Not to be greedy, but All Quiet on the Western Front could have earned a record 15 BAFTA nominations if they had nominated Felix Kammerer in Lead Actor. So much love for the film but not for him?

I think the biggest single snub/surprise is the failure of Sarah Polley to make it into Adapted Screenplay. I know they hated Women Talking— not even a Buckley or Foy name check in Supporting Actress— but just as they threw Spielberg a bone in Original Screenplay, I thought Polley would get in in Adopted.

I was genuinely shocked that they left him off.

BAFTA’s support makes me certain that it’s getting that international Director nom.

It was actually a pretty tight competition for the jury slots. I don’t think it was a major slight against him or the film. I’m thrilled about McCormack getting in (and I guess Mescal since he likely was juried as well).

    Wtf are these adapted nominees

I predicted all of them with the exception of The Whale(I had Women Talking). The snub of Glass Onion was obvious for me – shallow writing and ridiculous plot. On the contrary, The Quit Girl and She Said are both excellent examples of complex and nuanced scripts.

Angela Bassett is the only nomination for Black Panther. Holy!!!

Proves how strong she is. She could lose BAFTA but still win the Oscar.

Some of these doesn’t make any sense.

Angela Bassett for Black Panther Wakanda Forever… but nothing else. Not even costume.

Empire of Lights showing everywhere but no Olivia Colman.

Because you do not know how they vote. Only actors vote for acting. Only costume designers vote for costumes. Only cinematographers vote for cinematography. So all makes perfect sense, the different gilds and branches are no correlated when they vote. And British Film has 10 slots, it is normal that Empire of Light got there, cinematography and supporting were obvious choices.

I honestly wanted to lowley check if they had reverted back the old voting system or not when I saw Mulligan and Redmayne nominated lol.

I find them incredibly deserving, both gave outstanding and subtle performances that could be selected by a jury, it not surpassing for me. I predicted him. And I also close to predict her as well, but I went with Aimee Lou Wood, I guess they did not liked Living that much at the end, it looks like Night was saved by the jury at the end.

Banshees didn’t get in for Casting

Which I predicted. This is not a best ensamble as some of you seem to think, this is an award for casting directors. In Banshees, the only thing that the casting director did was to hire the extras for the village and the actor that played the policeman, the four main roles were hire directly by Martin. I also predicted the nomination for Aftersun, the casting of Corio was essential. Same goes for Butler as Elvis (I did not had this one though, had Matilda instead, but I go the other four).

    Bassett was a jury save.

Doesn’t matter, the entire acting branch of the Briitsh Academy nominated her for the long list. This is why it matters if you are snubbed entirely from the long list like it happened with Colman, Stephanie Hsu or the entire female cast of Women Talking.
