In which categories (if any) do you think BAFTA has all five Oscar nominees?
actor and supporting actress
January 19, 2023 at 9:37 am #1205253583all i ever ask from BAFTA are more bakray and scanlan-type nominees and wins please
I doubtful of these happening again, the Scanlan win (especially in a field which had a 0/6 Oscar crossover) seems to have permanently scared them off from being their own thing and reverting back towards being an Oscar precursor.
Sigh.
January 19, 2023 at 9:40 am #1205253585Michelle Williams’s path would have been so much simpler in supporting actress instead of insisting on lead placement. Oh wells. Ana de Armas is IN! Not looking back on that one. Yay Danielle Deadwyler! A clear jury pick, but I’ll take it. I have to reconsider Dolly de Leon. Hong Chau seems like a strong bet, and the return of phantom BAFTA winner Carey Mulligan lmao! Angela Bassett still making the cut when voters didn’t give a shit about “BP:WF” is telling. Nice to see the love for “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” somewhere like this, and I really should have predicted Daryl McCormack in lead actor over Daniel Kaluuya. This is historically where I do the worst in my predictions b/c of the membership’s peculiar tastes and constant rules changes, but I’ll keep trying. I guess.

original screenplay
January 19, 2023 at 10:24 am #1205253723Elvis’ overperformance astounds me! It didn’t get into Screenplay or Director, but it getting 7 below-the-line categories is huge. Cinematography? Comeon! (I know it got into the cinematography guild but be serious man!)
January 19, 2023 at 10:51 am #1205253787so happy for Michelle,Ana,Viola,Danielle and Dolly In Supporting 🥰
January 19, 2023 at 10:57 am #1205253806Not to be greedy, but All Quiet on the Western Front could have earned a record 15 BAFTA nominations if they had nominated Felix Kammerer in Lead Actor. So much love for the film but not for him?
I was genuinely shocked that they left him off.BAFTA’s support makes me certain that it’s getting that international Director nom.
Both Park Chan-wook and Edward Berger are in my directors predictions its gonna be something like 2019 when Pawel and Cuaron were in the Best Director category
January 19, 2023 at 11:19 am #1205253891Clayton still in shock Farrell got in at BAFTA.

Felix at least deserved a jury slot, think they decided to go local with Mescal instead

Holy Spider is the most controversial movie in the lineup and UK and USA industry are afraid of angering Iran

Wells not making it in is probably the biggest surprise for me.

In out defense, the comparison between them and After Lover/Happening was flawless.
I did very well regardless, I have an accuracy of 81 % and my ranking is 122 / 2643, my best result ever at Bafta!
