No. Quan and Bassett will win there (although I hope Condon wins). They’re probably going with whoever wins SAG in Best Actor.

BAFTA is before SAG.

Well, 🤦
They’re probably gonna be different, then. I’m thinking Fraser at SAG and Farrell or Butler at BAFTA
February 5, 2023 at 10:48 am #1205285422Colin Farrell BAFTA winner let’s hope for it.
He lives in you, he lives in me, he watches over everything we see.
Into the water, into the truth, in your reflection, he lives in you.February 5, 2023 at 11:05 am #1205285499Todd Field winning Director at the Oscars is something I have been toying with ever since Scorsese raved about the movie. This kind of critics push has got to be useful to something.
If he takes BAFTA and DGA, he could take the Oscar, but i still think Daniels are takign it, even with only a CC under their belt
"EGOT" and "Triple Crown of Acting" winner: VIOLA DAVIS!!!!
February 5, 2023 at 11:09 am #1205285515Whoa I go for a 10 min walk and the flurry of activity is like a bomb went off.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been genuinely happy for the winners.
As for the “Todd Field has no chance” people….
The Sunne in Splendour.
I prefer my roses whiteFebruary 5, 2023 at 11:13 am #1205285528Completely forgot these were happening today lol. Ultimately nothing too surprising (they almost never give a film both best film and British film so Banshees was either winning the former with Aftersun taking the latter or the latter with Tàr taking the former) aside from Keoghan winning over Quan. Although even then that made some sense seeing as he’s kind of been a Jessie Buckley-esque critical favourite in the UK these past few years.
I think I’m going to stick with Farrell in my predictions here. The LFCC rarely go for a sweep/near-sweep like they’ve done here with Banshees (last year for example Negga won over Dunst, the year before Steve McQueen won over Chloe Zhao) and with this being a wide open category (which supporting actress and actor are not) I think there’s enough love for this film to coalesce around Farrell even if he doesn’t go on to take the Oscar like with Mulligan for An Education or Ejiofor for 12 Years a Slave. SAG happening after BAFTA this year might just very well be his saving grace.
Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

I hope BAFTA happens before SAG every season then if it’s how we get more inspired wins 🥰
February 5, 2023 at 11:23 am #1205285562Farell, Blanchett, and Condon will repeat at BAFTA. Quan will win supporting actor. You’re welcome
Academy Award Winner Brendan Fraser
February 5, 2023 at 11:31 am #1205285588I think Colin, Cate and Kerry are looking very likely here but I don’t buy a Keoghan win. I still think he’s going to vote split with Gleeson. I think he was the typical outlier LFCC sometimes goes for. Quan is still winning imo.
February 5, 2023 at 11:34 am #1205285602Ain’t no way Barry is winning BAFTA, he’s splitting the vote with Gleeson (which is a thousand times better btw) and Quan will easily take it.
I also think Bassett is still winning but let me dream about Kerry. He lives in you, he lives in me, he watches over everything we see.

Well, to be fair they only like 2 movies.

Indeed. These are critics but BAFTA will share the wealth more. It’s also interesting to note that despite doing so good Banshees still lost Best Film. TPOTD won here.
February 5, 2023 at 11:43 am #1205285633Quan not winning is really surprising. (and upsetting)
This award season has really bottled down from being the most exciting to utterly mundane. There has either been a Banshees or Tar or EEAAO sweep everywhere.
