yeah the actual ceremony starts in a few minutes. It’s virtual though so not sure if we’ll know winners before it actually airs

Yall I don’t trust that bafta body to go for Minari. I feel confident in Youn winning the Oscar but BAFTA? Not very sure…

I spent an unnecessary time deciding costume and make-up so I’m glad we know the results today.

Same. I feel like there was no buzz for minari at BAFTA. Maybe it changed in that time but I predicted it didn’t. We’ll see tomorrow.

Minari hardly making a dent at London Film Critics Circle when that group is the most open towards American indies and films largely told not in the english language really informed me about its chances here.

It’s a shame because if it was about a South Asian family moving to Bristol it would probably be dominating here.

Apparently these are the Guardian’s predictions:

    Best Film: The Father
    British Film: The Dig
    Director: Chloe Zhao
    British Debut: Rocks
Film Not in the English Language: Another Round
    Documentary: My Octopus Teacher
    Animated Film: Soul
Original Screenplay: The Trial of the Chicago 7
    Adapted Screenplay: The Dig
    Actor: Anthony Hopkins
    Actress: Vanessa Kirby
    S. Actor:  Daniel Kaluuya
    S. Actress: Maria Bakalova
    Music: Soul
    Cinematography: Mank

The Guardian tend to accurately predict British Film so I am a bit perplexed as to why they’ve gone with The Dig of all things lol. Maybe they really are bored or maybe it’s going to be the Rosamund Pike of this category lol?

So now it seems to be airing at 9pm BST instead of 8? Really confused…

3/4 acting winners being white just isn’t going to happen this year with the diversity of the nominees and last year’s shit storm.

    Rising Star – Sope Dirisu

Nice, I was too chicken. I hope that you get it for prognosticating reasons, but I hope that I get it so that justice can be served with a rightful winner.
