I’m done arguing. I think some of you are too hard on Winslet, so you dismiss her chances. You say they don’t rush to reward Winslet. I say they don’t rush to reward Vikander either. And considering that these Winslet-haters (I don’t talk about my Nick, I wouldn’t hurt his feelings – but the rest of you!) actually prefer Vikander’s flop leading performance in a flop film is even more annoying.

And Kate’s performance in “The Reader” was perfectly deserving so fuck off.

They haven’t yet awarded Amy Adams and Chastain and these people think they want to reward Vikander because she was in a bunch of movies THIS YEAR. Puh-lease. Btw the best thing I can say about Vikander is that she was in the films – but didn’t do much more than be in them.

Sorry, but that’s cheap rhetorics here.
Yes, Vikander was in a flop but her performance is no flop. It’s an absolutely stunning performance. And Winslet is in a film that isn’t a masterpiece either. The big difference is that Winslet’s performance is a meh. After all, Vikander’s film has two more nominations. And please, don’t call us haters. Everybody has a right of an opinion and to me, Winslet’s performance in Steve Jobs is absolutely mediocre – badly written, with no substance and no character arc.
And yes, she won an Oscar for The Reader only because she had the overdue narrative. The performance was absolutely average and she was miscast. Sally Hawkins and Kristin Scott Thomas were not nominated, but Melissa Leo deserved to win ahead of Winslet. Anne Hathaway deserved to win ahead of Winslet. Even Streep – in one of her worst nominated performances – deserved it more.

AMG, the snub of The Force Awakens overwhelms any good vibe for Leo and Kate awards.  Nobody believes that, but I will be proven right the night after when the overnights come in on the telecast. Indie Spirits II, anyone?

The only snub for the force awakens was the fact that knock off piece of garage was ever created

Winslet was okay in Steve Jobs, unrecognizable at first, forgettable at the end but what turns me off from her this season is her thirst for awards. I mean come on gal. You have more money than the whole population of Africa couldn’t spend in a year, you are one of the most recognizable stars in the world, have the power to be cast in any role you want it, and do you still want to win your second Oscar after only six years(for a supp.role after lead) over someone who could very well use that award to go to new places at her career including your “dear” friend Fassbender’s date who had a breakout year?

Btw, did anyone see Leo’s face when Winslet won her BAFTA yesterday or Winslet’s when Leo won his? “If only” those two care about this so called reunion as much as people on these boards lol. I give Academy members more credit than that. Had both of them were still overdue in the same year and had baity projects at the same time, I’d understand, but right now it’s just a fairy tale. If they were to give every actor’s iconic co-stars an Oscar in the same night with them…

You know she was talking about her performance in The Reader, and not rating the movie as a whole.
