Nobody outside of Broadway knows who Matt Bomer. He, like the more well known Sebastian Stan, is not a movie star. Ryan Gosling is a movie star deal with it.

But I do agree that this should have been done over a decade ago with Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling before they broke up. Lol

Or Amanda Seyfried and Gosling could have done it post Mamma Mia. Who knows.

But I would like if I say I’m not excited about this movie.

Ryan Gosling seems/looks too old for Ken. I think Zac Efron was a Better choice. Zac Efron was/is Ken and the perfect choice for the new Hercules movie from Disney

that is the whole point of the 80s/early 90s outfit on paper but it also is a look that is coming back apparantly. All the bathing suits I saw at macys and jcpenny were that bright.

Ryan just doesn’t look enough like a bland pretty boy with “gay face” to fit the Ken aesthetic. His face is too rugged and distinct to reflect doll-like prettiness and empty-ness. Still, like everything else, it’s gonna be about the performance, and they were clearly looking for a big name. I’m not as hyped about this as some, but I am intrigued. This movie could be anything.

I’m not expecting Barbie to be a major awards contender. But it has potential to be a fun movie. Hopefully there’s cute merchandise to coincide with the film’s release. The marketing will probably be insane.
