February 17, 2022 at 10:33 am #1204806859The eyeliner is throwing me off. The lead looks more My Chemical Romance than Elvis…

This feels like a monster smash like Bohemian Rhapsody.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2022 at 10:36 am #1204806871Tom Hanks is already a contender for Best Supporting Actor and I’m calling it now.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2022 at 10:38 am #1204806877Like I said in the other thread, Austin looks very good in this. The movie doesn’t look that good but I’ve never been a fan of Baz Luhrmann, so take that with a grain of salt.

February 17, 2022 at 11:07 am #12048069701. He sounds like elvis
2. He doesnt look like elvis but he has elvis mannerisms
3. They are 100% going to show elvis getting inspired/stealing from black singers and churches which is needed.
4. I love the ending shots of this trailer where the tan and sweat kick in – Austin is giving it his all

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2022 at 2:17 pm #1204807479Austin Butler’s performance has me sold. Hanks’ voice just felt all over the place and will probably only get in because they can promote it as “the movie that gave Tom Hanks COVID”, but Butler gets pretty much everything even if the eyeliner is a bit of a throw-off. Unfortunately, the June release date probably kills any chance of above-the-line nominations.
The movie itself… looks like another generic musician biopic, which is a shame for Baz Luhrmann to do (even though I’m not a big fan of his). It will probably do well in crafts as usual for Luhrmann’s films, but unless this becomes Bohemian Rhapsody there’s no real hope for it.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2022 at 3:07 pm #1204807564This looks incredible. I reckon this movie will do a clean sweep at the Oscars. So many people are praising the film !
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 17, 2022 at 4:05 pm #1204807630Don’t forget the Whitney biopic comes out this year as well. It will be interesting to see which bio film will end up being more successful.
