Not gonna lie, that runtime is a massive turnoff, both for its box office chances and for its award hopes.

May 25, 2022 at 1:23 pm #1204963500If you are going in expecting some austere piece of art, you will be disappointed. Elvis seems like the unabashed over-the-top biopic Baz Luhrmann is known for. Despite the reviews, WB will ensure it gets major nominations come Oscar day. It is everywhere, the campaigning is in full swing.
Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS is… *exactly* what you expect Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS to be. Overcranked, glittery, silly, fun, ridiculous… sometimes all of those within the same five seconds! The only variables are lead actor Austin Butler (better than expected) and Tom Hanks (much worse!)
