I can see the Academy going gaga for this film just because it’s the perfect Oscar bait. And that’s so meh. Trailer just smelled like please give me 5 Oscar nominations, in the worst possible way.

She might be great but Kidman is very delicate. Her hand gestures, all of it. I don’t need or think impersonation is good acting per se & she can be wonderful, but it is hard to unsee the miscasting. Still. Can be great!

Lucille Ball very subdued in real life…..very much how Kidman is.

Hot (unpopular? don’t kill me) take: The apparently well-honed precision of J.K. Simmons’s William (“Fred Mertz”) Frawley and Nina Arianda’s Vivian (“Ethel Mertz”) Vance only worsens the perception gap between Kidman/Bardem and Lucy/Desi. If Simmons and Arianda steal the show, well, we can see how….

haha. There was not enough of Nina Arianda at ALL or William Frawley to even get a good gage of their performances.

I know how she was, not really what I meant but…it’s fine, whatever.

Oh I saw enough of Arianda’s Vance/Ethel and Simmons’s Frawley/Fred to say “more please” – Kidman/Bardem? jury’s still out for me

I agree. I prefer The Social Network 2 especially if David Fincher Directs it

    exclusive clip

Nicole has Lucille DOWN. She’s wonderful in this clip, and her voice work is fantastic. She looks so relaxed and nuanced….yet commanding and witty. Exactly what I think of when I think of the real Lucille.

Nicole sounds amazing but her face… It seems like the makeup team literally put a mask on her.

It’ll be an interesting season if Kidman is able to keep her momentum. I think the initial backlash really worked in her favor. Just like Kristen Stewart’s backlash when she got cast worked for her. Its like battle of the underestimated.

Anne Thompson in her podcast said to expect both Kidman and Bardem to be nominated for “Being the Ricardos”, because they’re both great. The movie will not do super well critically, but the Academy will eat it up anyway, especially Sorkin’s screenplay. She really disliked the flashbacks, though. She also said that Kidman is ahead of Gaga in the race according to her. Her guest, Ryan Lattanzio, said the movie is a bit too Oscar-baity and not one of Kidman’s strongest performances.

Nicole Kidman really deserves a huge critical hit like this. She has been doing real great work the last few years and it’s time she has second Oscar on her shelf. a moment like this.

Is there a national release date for this movie? I am nervous that i am not seeing this listed for any time in December where I live – is it going to be another Still Alice where I had to wait until late February or will it show up before the end of 2021?

Thanks! I prefer to see movies in a movie theater if it is at all possible but I will keep this in mind just in case… (:
