I’m very curious why everyone seems to have decided that Egerton is winning the globe, when Leo is sitting right there, has been nominated everywhere else, and had a film with way more nominations. Spreading the wealth is not something the globes have been known to do in this category (see la la land) and there’s no reason to assume that the globes would love Egerton’s performance more.

A majority of this sub does not like Leo, they even thought he wasn’t going to be nominated for a while (lol). The Globes love him and like the movie enough he will win easily

People really like to stick nose in celebrity’s personal lives.

It’s their life and their consensual relationship.

As a viewer,I always anticipate and see the art they are putting and if they are putting effort to help world and people in need then they earn my double Respect.

I cannot for some reason see HFP going for Egerton winning the comedy/musical globe over Leo.

When Once opened I was afraid Leo might miss. Now it looks like he isn’t, which is pretty great as he wore his emotions on his sleeve, and made me laugh.
I liked him here more than in The Revenant.

Nah. Getting SAG nom was great get but not outside the realm of possibilities. I think he is above Murphy but that still puts him in 6-7. It would be interesting if he did get BAFTA over Pryce or Bale considering how low brow Rocketman is and how high brow BAFTA is.

Meh, they’re not that highbrow, those basics snubbed some of their own most acclaimed performances like Timothy Spall and Charlotte Rampling. (Did you ever get a look at their pre-nomination longlists before they abolished them? The Iron Lady had 14 mentions, good God.) I don’t know if Egerton would get a BAFTA nom over Pryce but he definitely can over Bale, as Ford v Ferrari (or I should say, Le Mans 66) hasn’t been as popular in UK as in US. No matter how respected Bale is, I can imagine BAFTA voters shrugging at it while still loving Rocketman.

Darlings, Gayerton is probably missing the Oscars but well… at least his performance was recognized further than the Globes. He should be nominated. Snubbing him and rewarding Animatronic is homophobic.

As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

Critics awards mean nothing. Let’s see if he wins the Globe and at SAG.

I will say, regardless of whether Joaquin or Adam takes it, I get the L for thinking Robert De Niro would be the winner.

I mean critic awards did help people like Huppert win the Globe so I wouldn’t say they completely mean nothing.

Rooting for Phoenix but I wouldn’t be mad if Adam wins. They were both excellent in each of their roles.

Now that I have seen The Two Popes I am rooting for Jonathan Pryce to be nominated for his magnificent Oscar-worthy performance. If academy members take the time to see the movie he has a great chance at getting a nomination; the performance is simply that great! He would be a very worthy winner.

Both Adams are critics favourite this year.
