I think Ford vs Ferrari is a 2 man lead and Damon and Bale are both lead?

Since Bale is probably supporting and Phoenix is just wishful thinking, I have a feeling Cumberbatch is winning.

Trust me, that will not stop the studio from campaigning the other one (likely Damon) in Supporting if they think it’s a wise move.

Early frontrunners on my list are DiCaprio, De Niro, and Phoenix.

DiCaprio’s main detractor is that he’s won fairly recently; his success is totally dependent on how big of a dent OUATIH makes with the Academy. If there’s a lack of viable 0ptions in this category, he could benefit greatly from an OUATIH sweep even if it’s iffy now.

De Niro is at the age and level of respect where I feel he could pick up a third Oscar given his lack of nomination-worthy material (besides 2012) for the last few decades. He won such a long time ago that it would be a very Streep-Iron Lady type win and I don’t think it’s out of the question. The Irishman could be a huge mess, but I think if both Irishman and OUATIH didn’t sweep nominations that De Niro would be the more likely stand-alone contender. Phoenix has already been discussed a lot on the other thread so I’ll leave that out

Otherwise, I don’t see any major frontrunners. I think that Driver will likely be kept at a nomination at most while they’ll campaign hard for Bening, and Bale and Egerton are the next closest to nominations otherwise.

The Irishman chances to get a hit tag looks slim as $200million is gonna be too much even if it’s 98/100 movie..Do you really think Leo can win it?

In the absence of an alternative, I think Leo can win it. Besides Joaquin it’s really contingent on anyone with a legitimate narrative coming out of the woodwork before awards season starts.

    True

Love Joaquin Phoenix, but for some reason I can’t see him as a frontrunner at the moment.

Imo, Adam Driver, Robert De Niro & Leo DiCaprio are the early frontrunners
