I hate to be that person, but Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor won’t be both entirely full of white actors, given how much shit the Oscars have gotten in recent years. Regardless of your opinion on the whole debacle, it’s unlikely for them to not have at least one POC on their ballot.

Right now I have Eddie Murphy for Dolemite, but I’m betting on Daniel Kaluuya for Queen & Slim, which looks amazing from what I’ve seen.

Mmm, anyone should be up there if the performance is good enough.

What do you mean by “debacle”?

    Actor : Murphy, Kaluuya

    Actress : Woodard, Nyong’o, Awkwafina

Supp Actor : Brown, Foxx (?)

    Supp Actress : Zhao

Obviously all of them aren’t gonna get in but the POC contenders are there. It won’t be all white

I hope Queen & Slim is a critical and commercial smash! Fingers are also crossed for Brown and Zhao, but I have a hard time seeing A24 get in The Lighthouse, Waves AND The Farewell after their underperformance these last two years.

Also, I’m gonna have to remind everyone that Adam Sandler exists and has gotten lots of acclaim for Uncut Gems. Just waiting on the critics groups to shower him with prizes and then the Critics Choice and Globes putting him on SAG/AMPAS voters radar. I know the category is packed, but Banderas and DiCaprio don’t seem likely to me and I will never understand this talk about Murphy and Pryce. Netflix is not getting in more than Driver and Deniro

    You’re forgetting Antonio Banderas.

He works with Pedro Almodovar so often; I expect a LOT from this collaboration.
For now Banderas is on my prediction list.
    Sight unseen. Sigh….

Girl Antonio Banderas is super WHITE

He’s not particularly dark skinned, but he’s clearly not “super WHITE”.

He wasn’t “super white” playing Puss n Boots either.

Jamie Foxx is right there for Just Mercy. I guess Eddie Murphy is possible now that 2 popes has kinda gone by the wayside. Will be interesting to see which one netflix pushes more.

Eddie Murphy at least has a comeback narrative. It’s funny it works for Renee Zellweger to the point where she’s a frontrunner while Eddie had to fight for a nom for a movie with much better reviews. All in the strength of the categories.

I understand your point but are Eddie Murphy’s reviews really as strong as Renee’s?
