Yes he says it every freaking day dependant upon when he gets up, in fine derisive fashion.

Darlings, I say it just in case your delusion hasn’t disappeared (which obviously hasn’t).

I was your Prime Minister once.

I love the trailer for The Good Liar and am thinking that Ian McKellan could very well get a Best Actor nomination (and Helen Mirren a Best Actress nomination). It looks to be a really fascinating film with great performances!

Nobody’s being delusional for discussing someone possibly winning in October for an award show that’s gonna take place in February because we literally don’t even know what’s gonna happen in the next few months lol. This is literally a predictions thread, stop dismissing people as if it will take place tomorrow.

You don’t have to diss Ms. Thatch. She is deep down team Driver and you will side with her soon.

Darlings, no way is Joke losing that dildo. His ass is just too baity and over the top. The Oscars won’t resist to award him. Nose is not winning for getting divorced. As I said before, there aren’t the 70s.

If you’re whole argument hinges on Phoenix being too baity and over the top, then it’s not a very good argument. It wasn’t that long ago that we saw Denzel lose to Casey Affleck when the former’s performance was about fifty times more over the top and baity.

Also, do you not see the irony of posting all these smug and over confident comments with pictures of a character who famously isn’t anywhere near as smart as she thinks she is?

How come Meryl Streep knew that DDL was the winner without having opened the envelope?

She never opened the envelope. We will never know who was truly supposed to win that night..

Jk. She apparently read the envelope while the cameras were offline to show the nominees’ Oscar clips. I thought everyone already knew this by now. It’s been nearly a decade..

This is so unrelated but I’m so in love with your profile picture lol

The most acclaimed female director right now giving the golden lion to a DC movie is too much of a paradox to cinephiles handle. I couldn’t miss it.

Also, I love how pissed Lucrecia looks since she was probably outvoted. Gotta love her

The difference is that Denzel already had two Oscars. Phoenix has none. That will make it a lot harder for the academy to snub him again in favor of a much less baity performance from a much newer actor.

    For Your Consideration.

Finally saw Joker today. Could it be that Joaquin Phoenix will be the only nominee for the movie? it has done great box office, yes, but it’s an ugly movie, very derivative of superior Martin Scorsese movies and the only real reason to see it is for the flamboyant over the top central performance (is he in every single scene of the movie? Sure seemed like it, almost every single frame with rare exceptions). It’s interesting to contrast Phoenix’s flamboyance with Banderas’s low-key style in Pain & Glory – haven’t seen Marriage Story yet and hoping that Driver will live up to the hype he has been getting lately for his performance. The film doesn’t let us decide how we feel about his character since we aren’t allowed to really get to know anybody else. I am fascinated by how well this movie has done at the box office – clearly it has struck a chord with viewers psychologically!

Totally possible for Joaquin Phoenix to be the only nomination for Joker. Regardless of the academy’s reception on Joker, his performance is the only constant praise of it.

If they like the film they might throw a bone and give cinematography, a top 8 BP and editing noms. If they hate it Joaquin is still nominated.

Glenn Close was in her 7th nomination and much more overdue than Phoenix. Colman her 1st.

Yeah Peter O’Toole can go 0 for 8, then Phoenix can go 0 for 4

Anyhow… Joker’s great numbers just consolidate Phoenix as a one-of-a-kind contender. This is actually the first time a CBA is hyped as much for a lead role. Dark Knight and Black Panther were considered in almost every other area, except their lead characters.

Also, it’s been a while since the villain character gets the prize in Best Actor. It just makes the race more exciting. No hopes up though
