Rami Malek isn’t the reason why Gayerton crashed at the Oscars.

    1. Both Phoenix and Driver were always getting in before him, so only 3 spots were opened for Gayerton meaning the probability he gets in was reduced.
    2. Leonardo DiCaprio coattailled the whole season from the strength of his film, plus the star power that a newbie couldn’t compete with, 2 spots remaining.
    3. The overdue narrative works more than the breakthrough narrative it has been proven several times, especially in the best actor category where old white dude from Ohio would always vote for a veteran than for a newbie. Pryce was the VETERAN with zero nomination (the goodwill for The Wife last year as many agreed he was as good as Close) and Netflix backing him up was a luxury Taron couldn’t afford.
    4. Banderas has huge critical support, plus the overdue factor (to not say narrative as he hasn’t been giving memorable performances).
    5. This was one of the toughest lineup ever, we can make a case for Egerton getting snubbed

See Jans, Egerton was poised to flop, even Elton John himself couldn’t save his ass.

Given Egerton’s success with the precursors, he was very likely sixth place. Also, what do you have against him? Every time you mention him it seems like your comment is dripping with hatred.

Countess Luann calling him Gayerton is highly disrespectful and a bit homophobic (I say that as a gay person). Frankly I preferred BR to Rocketman and I imagine many voters did too. I think they didn’t want to reward the same genre with a lesser quality film (although it could be argued they’re doing that with Judy).

Did Malek have the best male lead performance of 2018? I don’t think so. But he gets way more hate than he deserves. (Cue Thatcher’s attempt to prove me wrong with a 3 sentence rebuttal).

Darling, considering he had one of the most annoying stans ever in the Best Actor race Thatcher would say he doesn’t get half the hate he deserves. The fact is that his performance was actually a cartoon and he deserved to win… a Razzie. It was an insult to Mercury to even think that Inexpressive Animatronic resembled him. A disgrace. Truly a disgusting disgrace.

HAHAHAHA Stay pressed haters! Rami Malek gave one of the best performances of the decade in Bohemian Rhapsody. He deserved to sweep and he did. You should move on! He’s clearly one of the best Best Actor winners of all time. EAT IT!

I love being a literate person.

Are we still pretending Bowie and Thatcher aren’t the same person?

Darling, May God (Thatcher herself) help you with your delusional sickness, dear citizen. The only username I used apart from this was Florence, who died by flopping. It is well-known. You should read Thatcher’s Confessions thread in order to become an educated citizen.

People are talking about Egerton being nominated. Christopher Plummer didnt get any nomination till he was over 80. So anyone can get it.
But i prefer people like Ewan McGregor, Kevin Bacon get a nomination before him.
Many of you forget that the academy usually dont like studs… Antonio Banderas needed to be over 50 before getting his first nomination. Another example that everything is possible… after the Evita omission, who though he would be nominated for a performance in Spanish???

Just watched Pain & Glory. Wow! I’m impressed on how beautifully made the film is especially Antonio Banderas. His scenes with Alberto and his old mother really stunned me plus I think in my opinion, Almodovar should be on the list for Best Director and the screenplay too. I never expect I would like it.

There are so many underrated gems in Spanish cinema. 3/5 nominees this year in Best Actor are stronger than most of the winners this decade.

    Egerton is a queerbaiter.

You wanting Egerton to be gay doesn’t make him a Queerbaiter. It has never been hidden that he has a girlfriend.
