Here we go! The other two forums are doing well. Let’s see those opinions on this category. I will start!
-Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando and Tom Hanks should all have at least 3 Oscars.
Peter O’Toole and Richard Burton not winning out of 7/8 nominations is absolutely horrible.

4. Antonio Banderas, Pain and Glory
5. Leonardo DiCaprio, Once Upon A Time In HollywoodDecember 8, 2020 at 5:43 am #1203902511What made Pitt’s win for OUATIH worse was that he had a more deserving performance that year in Ad Astra. Well it’s a shame the film didn’t do well at the box office but he was incredibly deserving.
Tommy Lee Jones should have been nominated in supporting actor too.

December 8, 2020 at 6:07 am #1203902581Taron Egerton will forever be the snub that stings the most. His performance in that was so layered and beautiful whilst also being ridiculously entertaining. It’s not a performance that I believe could be replicated as opposed to DiCaprio who I truly believe turned in one of his worst performances, but each to their own.
The other recent snub that stung was Ryan Gosling in First Man… I remember being so taken aback and surprised by just how moved I was at the end of that in the cinema, First Man should have been a win competitive best picture nomination but the academy was determined to choose the worst lineups in 2018.

Foy’s snub in favour of Amy Adams still hurts.

5. Adam Driver, Marriage StoryI’m not counting Luca Marinelli here since I am considering him 2020 so my ballot this year is stronger, he would be #4.

I never thought he was particularly talented. With the exception of Forrest Gump, it feels like he’s playing the same character over and over again in all of his movies.

Joaquin Phoenix remains one of the most deserving wins

December 8, 2020 at 10:51 am #1203903541Adam Sandler was horribly robbed for “Uncut Gems.” There was no need for Jonathan Pryce’s nomination in “The Two Popes.” And not to be labeled as a Pryce hater, I would have gladly nodded him for “The Wife” the year before in supporting actor. Sam Rockwell’s “SNL”-level Dubya was embarrassing in “Vice” and could have easily been replaced. Sandler made me a believer, which makes his basement-level paycheck roles all these years all the more egregious.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 8, 2020 at 11:04 am #1203903584I also think Adam Sandler’s Snub (not only in Oscar but also in the golden globe, sag) one of the greatest of recent times, he delivered a performance that you get glazed and totally different from everything he has done for pure prejudice!
