    The nominees were:

GERALDINE PAGE in The Trip to Bountiful (WINNER)
Anne Bancroft in Agnes of God
Whoopi Goldberg in The Color Purple
    Jessica Lange in Sweet Dreams
Meryl Streep in Out of Africa

That year we had three major snubs:

Norma Aleandro in The Official Story
    Cher in Mask
Mia Farrow in The Purple Rose of Cairo

Would you nominate the three major snubs? If so, who would you take out to give space for ’em?

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

The only one I would take out is Anne Bancroft in Agnes of God who I’m not sure why was there. I’d put any of the three snubs in there. I wish I could put all three but I don’t know who to take out. I would take out Streep because what’s one less nomination for her? But then that doesn’t seem right. She was that film and deserves the accolades for it. Goldberg DESERVES that nomination to the point many think she should have won. I just can’t bring myself to not nominated Jessica Lange. I still have her screaming “Charlie!” in my head. I’m one of those who would have given Page the Oscar because it was one role (with Interiors) where her OTT mannerisms work for the film and I feel like I’ve devoted so much time defending her performance and her film against the Goldberg/Color Purple masses.

I would definitely take those three you named over Bancroft, Streep and Lange.

I know that this is take 3 and put 3, but I wanted to comment.

I would definitely take out Bancroft and Streep. I would definitely add Cher.

I always thought the 3 major snubs were Cher, Aleandro and Kathleen Turner in Prizzi’s Honor (Globe winner in a best picture contender). My list would be:

    Streep
    Cher
    Aleandro
    Goldberg
    Page

I would definitely remove Bancroft and Lange…plus even though I liked Streep in that bore of a film, I think she could’ve easily missed her.

Aleandro, Cher, and Farrow were certainly far more worthy to be nominated.

In this lineup, I’m not even sure who I’d vote for. I’d probably rank Farrow last simply by default.

I’d have removed Anne, and add Cher.
