I figured out the poll stuff! Yay! Lol.

Anyway, who do you think deserved it the most this year? General thoughts on the race? Were you crushed by Moore losing her frontrunner status? Do you despise Kidman’s win? Are you disgusted with Hayek’s nomination?

Edit Problem: I can’t even edit any of the poll options so I’m stuck with the typo of “Friday” instead of “Frida” for now. Any tips? Or do you just want to pretend she got nominated for a movie called Friday instead of Frida instead, lol. Let me know if you can help.

I preferred this without the poll. Just sayin’ it created a dialogue.

    1. Moore
    2. Zellweger
    3. Kidman
    4. Hayek
    5. Lane

    A better lineup.

    1. Moore
    2. Zellweger
    3. Sampi (Rabbit-Proof Fence)
    4. Kidman
    5. Hayek

Thank you for the feedback. Can you elaborate a little more?

I personally really enjoyed a lot of the contenders this year: Kidman gives an intelligent, elegant performance that was indeed deserving. Renee is excellent as the cheap and selfish Roxie. Lane is terrific, even though her film is terrible. But it’s Moore who deserved it the most-her performance is magnificent, perfectly in sync with the film. Truly glorious. I remember Hayek being terrible, but maybe I’ll give her another try.

It’s easy to give a good performance in a good movie but to give a great performance in a trash movie is quite an achievement so my vote goes to very underrated Diane Lane.

Based on the nominees, Nicole Kidman. That said, I would’ve voted for Isabelle Huppert in The Piano Teacher.

Where are all the people calling for Kidman to be in supporting like Streep in Prada.

Renee or Julianne. Both were brilliant.

I used to penalize Lane for it being in a borderline crap movie. But it’s almost easily my favorite performance out of the bunch. Though Isabelle Hupert and Maggie Gyllenhaal were my favorites that year.

Moore would have been a worthy winner. Kidman merely had the best bits in the otherwise pointless exercise known as “The Hours” (and the book remains one of my favorites). Zelleweger was just-fine, but her winning for that performance as opposed to ‘Bridget Jones’ or “Nurse Betty”? Nuh-huh.

Moore in Far from Heaven is one of the all-time great Best Actress Oscar nominees. Love Lane and Hayek too. The two front-runners, though, meh.

I vividly remember the wars fought over this category on here. Ahhh, the memories. Ballsy to beat this dead horse again.

    Team Kidman then and now.

Julianne Moore all the way! I was very disappointed when Nicole Kidman won.

Any of the other contenders that didn’t need a divorce to win sympathy votes

    But really Diane Lane
