I know she doesn’t stand a chance. But I just finished watching Late Night and Emma Thompson is great in it. Yeah, there are mentions of her in the best supporting actress thread but she’s clearly lead and I hate category frauds. I hope she gets Globe and CC comedy noms at least

She’s great, but not Oscar worthy imo. She’s going lead, not supporting as initially thought, but rightfully. Both she and Kaling are leads, I’d argue Thompson is more lead which indicates why they are campaigning Kaling in supporting. Anyway, Thompson is def getting Best Comedy Actress Critics Choice nom and probably a GG nom too.

    1. Scarlett Johansson (Marriage Story)
    2. Renee Zellweger (Judy)
    3. Charlize Theron (Bombshell)
    4. Saoirse Ronan (Little Woman)
    5. Awkwafina vs Erivo.

Alfre Woodard’s film looks like a big flop financially.

The reviews that Harriet gets today will be the make or break moment for Erivo. If the film is panned then she won’t be nominated. If it gets mixed reviews then she can probably get a nomination. If it surprises everyone and gets great reviews than she’s winning.

Is this really only a 7 pony race in September (Zellweger, Johannson, Ronan, Awkwafina, Theron, Erivo, Woodard)? Last year outside of the five eventual nominees we had Blunt, Kidman, Collette, Ronan, Roberts, Pike, and Jones all being thrown around still.

These Best Actress threads get crazier every year, haven’t even hit a decent precursor and we already have a user-on-user threat of violence 💀💀

The weirdest thing is that this person blames everybody but themselves for their constant banning. As if a moderator could not figure out the cheap type of profile they keep terrorizing us with.

Like girl, you’re not that smart.

I’m predicting Harriet won’t do well but it’ll still be a formidable Best Actress contender. Think of The Iron Lady not being a Best Picture contender but being an Actress contender.

    For Your Consideration:

Best Picture: Weathering With You, Parasite
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You
Best International Film: Weathering With You, Parasite

Darling, imagine thinking Erivo is Meryl Streep. I have to cackle.

LENA HEADEY hasn't got an Emmy for Game of Thrones????? Emmys you need to win her right now!!
If Lena Headey doesn't win the Emmy, I'm leaving GoldDerby forever.

    She’s a thespian. She’s everything. She’s Alfre Woodard.

Preach. She is the epitome of talent and class. Not to mention she was robbed of a nomination for Passion Fish back in 1992.

With the concerning tweets on Harriet, I feel like Lupita is now moving up towards becoming a locked nominee. I truly believe she can pull off the nomination and win some critic awards.

I don’t think mixed reviews spell doom for Erivo yet, since she’s being singled out as great by most of them. She could potentially still get a nomination, but if Lucy in the Sky gets good reactions and Portman gets raves, it’s over.
